WORTHLESSSTUDIOS is proud to announce Alix Vernet as the 2026 WARP Artist. Vernet will be in residence with WORTHLESSSTUDIOS and partner UAP—a leading global design and public art fabrication studio in upstate New York. Now in its second year, WARP provides sculptors with extensive support at a critical juncture in their career while embracing the entire creative process from start to finish. Vernet's residency will both coincide with and follow the conclusion of her solo exhibition titled LANDMARKS, currently on view at Chapter NY through October 17, 2026.

WARP embodies WORTHLESSSTUDIOS' core mission to support boundary-pushing artists to realize ambitious and visionary projects. Among the resources artists receive are a $45,000 fabrication budget, a $5,000 artist stipend, a labor stipend for up to 150 hours of support from studio assistants, a private studio space at UAP, five to seven weeks of unrestricted access to UAP's facilities and fabrication curriculum, housing near the foundry, transportation, project management assistance, and two short documentaries produced and promoted by WORTHLESSSTUDIOS while the artist is in residence. With comprehensive technical and project management support, residents are positioned to produce pivotal works that cultivate new ideas in their practices.

The residency will allow Vernet to carry out critical research and production work for her upcoming project Cheap Thrills, which engages a layered and complex history, shaped by overlapping narratives of access, labor, pleasure, and commodification. It extends Vernet's broader practice-based inquiry into how policies and moral frameworks around public safety and 'vulgarity' are used to regulate space, often reinforcing normative social structures and traditional gender roles in the process.
