Actress, wellness advocate, and entrepreneur Sasha Pieterse joined Ulike, the global beauty technology company dedicated to bringing professional-grade beauty experiences into the home, for an exclusive event at the Joseph B. Martin Conference Center in Boston focused on the future of beauty, self-care, and at-home technology.

Bringing together leading beauty and lifestyle media, industry experts and thought leaders, the event, “Future Beauty, Powered by Light,” explored how next-generation light-based technology is changing the way consumers approach at-home hair removal - and why the future of beauty should be as focused on skin comfort and wellness as it is on results.

For Pieterse, the conversation offered an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of beauty standards and the importance of approaching beauty from a place of confidence and self-expression rather than correction.

As a featured panelist, Pieterse joined Dr. Anna Mandinova, Megan Stewart, and moderator Jessica Matlin for a discussion on Redefining Beauty: The Future of Gentle, Personalized Self-Care. The conversation examined how beauty rituals are evolving, the growing role of technology in personal care, and how consumers can approach beauty on their own terms.

“We’ve all heard beauty is pain. We are sort of inherently brought up to believe that we will at some point endure pain in order to look beautiful,” said Pieterse. “I hate that sort of thought process for so many reasons.”

Reflecting on her own relationship with beauty and confidence, she spoke to the importance of creating beauty routines that feel empowering and personal rather than driven by external expectations.

“Beauty and the standard of beauty have looked different at very different stages of my life, not just in the public eye but how I think of myself. So redefining that and sort of deconstructing that to make sure beauty to me is more about strength and health and confidence and how I feel in my skin rather than how I’m making myself look for others. It’s been a very important journey for me as a woman.” Pieterse said.

The event underscored Ulike's broader belief that the future of beauty is not about changing who you are, but about giving consumers the technology and tools to care for themselves in ways that feel gentle, personal and empowering.
