House of Stories PR welcomes Nemat to its roster. Rooted in over 170 years of Indian perfumery, Nemat is a family-owned and family-run house known for intimate perfume oils that evolve with the wearer and make fine fragrance part of an everyday ritual.
The brand’s story begins with the Attarwala family in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The family name, Attarwala, means “possessor of perfumes,” reflecting a connection to fragrance that has been passed down through generations. Over time, the family carried its knowledge from Udaipur to Bombay and, eventually, to the United States, preserving its understanding of raw materials, fragrance composition, and the deeply personal nature of scent.
While Nemat’s heritage is rooted in the Indian tradition of attar-making, the brand is best known today for its modern perfume oils. Alcohol-free and designed to be worn directly on the skin, the oils sit close to the body and develop with each wearer’s unique skin chemistry. The result is an intimate fragrance experience often described as a “second skin”—soft, personal, and quietly memorable. Long before skin scents, perfume oils, and fragrance layering became modern beauty trends, they were central to the way Nemat approached scent. Its perfume oils can be worn alone, combined to create a personal signature, or layered with complementary body oils and eau de parfums to build dimension and lasting presence. Cult-favorite fragrances such as Amber and Vanilla Musk embody this philosophy, becoming subtly different on every person who wears them.
Generational relationships with fragrance and raw-material suppliers give Nemat access to ingredients sourced from around the world, including Indian sandalwood, jasmine sambac from South India, and Bulgarian lavender. The brand’s perfume oils are vegan and cruelty-free, and its products are created with an emphasis on quality, accessibility, and thoughtful formulation.
