Actress and founder of Respin, Halle Berry, spoke at the seventh HLTH Conference in Las Vegas, the preeminent event for healthcare and wellness innovation, pushing boundaries to transform the next decade of health. During her keynote session interviewed by Liz Baker Plosser, The Second Act: How We Respin Women’s Longevity, Halle discussed how every woman will age and will eventually experience menopause, a journey which lasts half of their adult life. Nearly 60 million women in the US alone are currently experiencing symptoms.
"Oh my goodness, what deserves a re-spin more than menopause? Shouldn't we rethink everything we thought we knew about menopause? Because really what we know is pretty much nothing. I realized that culture needed a shift, because when I looked up a woman in midlife, I saw an image, a Google image, that was shocking to me. The midlife woman in the image was in her 40s and was pretty much hunched over, not standing straight anymore and all the way until we're walking along with the cane. Menopause needed a rebrand," Berry told Liz Baker Plosser, Editor-in-Chief of Women’s Health.
Berry's company, Respin, is designed as the first 360-degree female longevity brand built on what Berry called the four Cs: community, content, commerce and care. The platform aims to destigmatize menopause, educate women about their bodies, provide health coaching, and offer essential wellness products. Respin recently launched after a successful pilot, with ninety percent of participants reporting improved menopause symptoms.
Halle also spoke about her journey with diabetes and involvement with probiotics brand Pendulum Therapeutics, as well as her recent launch in collaboration with women’s intimate health brand Joylux.
