The PR Net 100, 2024: HUNTER

Founded in 1989 by industry veteran Barbara Hunter, HUNTER operates from offices in NYC, LA, and London, with staff across North America. Originally renowned for its expertise in food and beverage PR, the firm has broadened its focus to include retail, technology, health, beauty, fashion, home, lifestyle, and travel. In the past year, HUNTER has made notable advancements: the agency bolstered its digital and social media capabilities by adding senior talent and enhancing its digital media buying with new programmatic and native advertising capabilities. The expansion of their Creative Services department, led by Executive Creative Director Carl Sorvino, and the launch of a state-of-the-art content studio have further strengthened the agency’s creative offerings. HUNTER is also at the forefront of AI innovation, with initiatives such as a Digital Town Hall series and a #generativeai Slack channel. Additionally, the firm pioneered a groundbreaking research study on Influence in America to better understand the impact of various sources on purchase decisions. These accomplishments have fueled impressive growth for HUNTER, marking four consecutive years of double-digit growth and doubling its size and revenue.

Describe the key tenets of your agency's mission and ethos.

“Earning staff dedication: We are HUNTERs: writers and researchers, makers and creators, connectors and collaborators, dreamers and problem solvers. Our talented staff are all we've got, and they have a lot of choices today; they can even come to work for you! We'd rather they stayed with us a long time, and our average staff tenure is one of the longest in the industry because we know that dedication to being a HUNTER, and all that means, is something we can never take for granted. So, we work really hard at that too.”
