The PR Net 100: Cinch PR

Cinch PR

Hospitality PR pro Alli Goldstein founded Cinch PR in 2006, leveraging years of experience at top brands including Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants. Today, her San Francisco-based firm represents travel clients as well as CPG and DTC brands, and recently started offering clients enhanced social media support as well as in-house media training. Another new offering: a pandemic-prompted restaurant relaunch program condensed into a six-week PR campaign helping clients navigate the new dining landscape. This year Cinch also spearheaded the launch of AutoCamp Cape Cod, the California-based glamping brand’s first East Coast endeavor, successfully providing journalists with safe travels during the pandemic.

What was your biggest business challenge this year and how did your team overcome it?

The biggest business challenge we faced over the past year was the loss of the majority of our travel and hospitality clients, which prior to COVID had made up about 70% of our business at Cinch. We overcame this challenge by quickly pivoting to seek out more CPG and DTC brands – an area in which we had a very solid foundation, but a ton of potential in which to grow. We leveraged our expertise and case studies in navigating our longtime consumer clients like Blue Bottle Coffee and JaM Cellars through COVID in order to win other new consumer brands, including BRAND Napa Valley, Honey Mama's, Spark Grills and Little Passports. Our consumer clients now make up around 60% of our portfolio, and we're intentionally rebuilding our travel and hospitality business by focusing on portfolio brands like Selina and AutoCamp rather than stand-alone hotels and resorts.
