Out East: Member Picks for Summer 2018

Heading out East this summer? A handful of members with homes by the beach gave us their insider picks for where to eat, drink, shop and more. Consider this your summer checklist.

Goop Pop Up in Sag Harbor
This thoughtfully curated store from Gwyneth Paltrow and her Goop team makes for some lovely shopping after lunch with rose. You really can’t go wrong with anything here. From swimmers to your favorite organic skin products, it’s a great pitstop when in Sag Harbor.

Hitch a ride on a friend’s boat to Sunset Beach for lunch
If you have a friend with a boat in the Hamptons, definitely encourage them to take it for a whirl to Shelter Island and drop anchor near Sunset Beach, or as we like to call it, St. Tropez in the Hamptons. Swim in (was we often do) or take the tender if you’re wearing your chicest gear.  And don’t forget to make a table reservation on Resy!

Yoga in the Vines at the Wolffer Wine Stand
Yoga and wine. Of course, it’s the Hamptons. This is my Saturday morning ritual. A great way to start the day with a fantastic yoga practice among the vines at Wolffer Estate in Sagaponak   Afterwards, head down to Sag Harbor for a totally delicious lunch at the Wolffer Kitchen restaurant on Main Street.

Fresh Produce Stands
If you are looking for a fabulous hostess gift, drop by one of the many farm stands and specialty stores. If you follow me on Instagram, you will know I’m obsessed with Round Swamp (Bridgehampton and East Hampton) for their salads, fried chicken, incredible pies and muffins. Your hosts will thank you, your credit card will not. Serene Greens is also a good roadside produce and seafood stand in Sag Harbor and I do love the more traditional Halsey Farm Store Farmers Market in Watermill.

Maneesh Goyal (Founder & CEO, Pineapple Co) - Bellport

The Bellport
Friday nights are alive at The Bellport! The fried chicken and the salmon tikka are our favorites—as is table-hopping.

Copper Beech
Thomas O’Brien has created a magical jewel in Bellport with his shop. Not only the most spectacular housewares but also delicious food and drinks. Perfect pre-beach pit stop.

Bellport General
A very cool concept store that just opened in Bellport! The best part? The gorgeous coffee and snack selections.

Tara Levy (Founder, TL Projects) - North Fork

Shinn Estate

Have a great glass of wine on the patio and relax in a low-key vineyard setting. Or decide to stay overnight in their beautiful B+B.

Love Lane Kitchen
Perfect for breakfast or lunch, a cozy neighborhood spot in Mattituck well known to locals.

Lido
Lovely Greenport shop with home decor, clothes and accessories. Perfect spot to pick up something for a beach house or to wear to dinner on the North Fork.

Sang Lee Farms
Stop by their farmstand for fresh and organic veggies and fruits.

Barba Bianca
Can’t wait to try this new Greenport restaurant on the water; opened by Frank DeCarlo of Peasant and Bacaro.

Barba Bianca

Orient Beach State Park
Large sandy beach with biking and hiking trails throughout at the end of the fork (or the world!).

Blair Clarke (Founder, Voltz Clarke Gallery) - Sag Harbor

The Whalers Museum and renovated library are two of my fave spots. And Baron's Cove, Yoga Shanti and the Five and Dime.

S&S Corner Shop

Adorable artisanal store for groceries and homewares, run by a lovely young family. Try the truffle cheese!

Springs Farmers Markets
On Saturdays 9am-1pm at the Ashawagh Hall, the Springs Farmers Market is a small but tasty array of mainly foodie items. I love the smoked fish patés with bread from Zabar’s.

Bostwick’s Chowder House
Not in Springs, but a short drive away, I often go to Bostwick’s for a casual seafood meal: amazing lobster fritters, fish tacos and more.
