New & Upcoming Venue Openings to Know

Whether you’re catching up on what happened at home post-vacation, or mapping out your fall happenings, there are several new spots to have on your radar. Below, we’ve rounded up recent arrivals and upcoming openings from NYC and Chicago to Toronto and London (plus a few more cities in between).

Now Open

Kissa, Toronto

Kissa opened in Toronto’s King West this summer, and the Japanese-inspired vinyl-only bar is already a favorite for its moody mixes, interesting cocktail program and Izakaya-style menu. Featuring a vintage sound system and custom speakers, grab a seat on the downstairs floor to enjoy a sophisticated evening listening to music made before 2015. The open-concept lounge on the top floor opens this month and features a DJ booth and bar, plus an intimate members-only bar.

1 Hotel Mayfair & Dovetale, London

There’s been plenty of buzz about the recently opened 1 Hotel Mayfair, as well as Dovetale, the new restaurant by two Michelin starred chef Tom Sellers. Expect immaculate decor and an impressive dining experience; guests enjoy dessert made tableside via a Knickerbocker Glory trolley.

Press Club Grill, NYC

Go back in time to 1950s and 1960s Manhattan at The Press Club Grill, a classic American restaurant with a retro-glam ambiance. The space stands out not only for chef Franklin Becker’s fresh take on nostalgic dishes, but also for the mural installation of iconic New Yorkers like Audrey Hepburn, Andy Warhol and Marilyn Monroe.

Café Chelsea, NYC

The first new restaurant concept to open at Hotel Chelsea since El Quijote opened in 1930(!), Café Chelsea was well-received when it opened its doors this summer. Designed with history in mind, the French American bistro features some of the property’s decades-old art, plus French touches like vintage chandeliers. Expect separate spaces for daytime lunches, evening affairs and a chic bar that can be privatized. Coming soon: a 20-seat private dining space dubbed the ‘Wine Room.’

Hoseki, NYC

The Saks Fifth Avenue New York Flagship recently introduced another dining concept: Hoseki. Located on the subterranean fine jewelry floor (aka The Vault), Hoseki is a six-seat sushi bar from the minds of Maxwell Weiss and Chef Daniel Kim.

Tempo by Hilton Times Square, NYC

Tempo by Hilton Times Square is the flagship property for the brand’s new contemporary lifestyle brand, which is located footsteps from the famed Times Square Ball. Signature restaurant Highball is a day-to-night destination serving New York classics as well as swanky cocktails and local brews. Pro tip: snag a seat on the expansive terrace.

Ma·dé, NYC

Chef Cédric Vongerichten and partner Ochi Latjuba Vongerichten debuted their second restaurant: Ma•dé in Soho. Located next door to fan-favorite Wayan, Ma•dé serves seasonal seafood and vegetable-forward plates that draw from diverse cuisines from all over the world. In addition to a unique, must-try menu, the space – inspired by Bali’s coastal beach bars – is an experience in its own right; the bookcase in the back of the restaurant showcases novelties sourced by Cédric & Ochi’s travels.

l’abeille à côté, NYC

Tribeca welcomes l’abeille à côté, a brand new concept that’s aptly described as a casual iteration of Michelin-starred sister restaurant l’abeille NYC. The Japanese restaurant invites diners in with its elegant interiors and menu of worldly wines and nostalgic dishes like Japanese soufflé cheesecake.

The Foyer, Chicago

The Foyer’s all day space, located in West Loop, is a go-to spot for a range of occasions. With various food and drink offerings, it’ll become the hot spot for client coffee meetings, setting up to work for a few hours or hosting a group for cocktails at the pretty bar.

Arch Room at Delfina, San Francisco

Local favorite California-Italian fusion restaurant Delfina reopened post-pandemic better than ever. Case in point: the renovated Arch Room, which is perfect for private events.

Opening Soon

Daroco, London

Parisian favorite Daroco arrives in London this September, serving up its famed pastas and pizzas in a Renaissance-inspired space.

Fenix, London

New Greek and Mediterranean restaurant Fenix is set to open in Manchester in November. The Permanently Unique Group restaurant will serve a sharing menu showcasing traditional Greek dishes cooked in front of an open fire, in a chic space that transports diners to the Mediterranean.

Aragawa, London

Tokyo restaurant Aragawa, known for serving the finest beef in Japan for over 50 years, will open in London this October. Foodies will flock to the restaurant to try the super-rare Tajima heifer, which is not often found outside of Aragawa in Tokyo.

Eva Cocowalk Coconut Grove, Miami

Ariete Hospitality Group will soon unveil two openings: Eva and The Oyster Bar at CocoWalk. The speakeasy-style oyster bar will open first, serving Mediterranean bites by chef Michael Beltran and a curated cocktail menu. Eva is planned to open in the weeks after. Opening late this year, Regent Santa Monica Beach will introduce the brand’s reimagined approach to American visitors. Steps away from the Santa Monica Pier, the coastline location offers a serene escape that’s both tranquil and convenient for hitting various neighborhood spots. Expect a beachfront pool deck and curated dining experiences.

Kimpton Hotel Theta, NYC

Kimpton Hotel Theta will open its doors in the Theater District this fall. The hotel promises to delight visitors with generously-sized guestrooms (compared to that of the typical NYC hotel). Plenty of amenities will make the hotel a favorite for business and leisure guests alike.
