This year, some of the world's most renowned hotel brands will enter new territory and make their debuts in New York and Los Angeles. From major players in the luxury travel world to experts in boutique amenities, both cities will see properties designed for tourists and locals alike. These are the hot hotel openings to know from coast to coast.
Renaissance New York Chelsea Hotel
Now Open (Somewhere Nowhere opening Spring 2020)
The Renaissance New York Chelsea Hotel is officially open on the former site of the iconic Antiques Garage flea market. Highlights include chef Fabrizio Facchini’s restaurant Cotto, where you can enjoy traditional Italian cuisine in the family-style dining room or on the trellis-covered courtyard. The Cardinal Ballroom--complete with floor-to-ceiling windows--was designed to host everything from galas to conferences, as the space can be separated into two. You’ll have to wait until spring, though, to experience Somewhere Nowhere, the bi-level luxury lounge on the hotel’s rooftop.
Six Senses New York
Opening Fall 2020
Luxury hospitality brand Six Senses will make its New York debut this fall. The property will be located in The XI, which was imagined by architect Bjarke Ingels and ideally situated on the High Line overlooking the Hudson River. The 10-floor development will offer a “community-driven experience,” in which well-being, sustainability and social engagement are at the forefront. Expect impeccable interiors designed by Parisian firm Gilles & Boissier.
Aman New York
Opening Late 2020
Aman will also arrive in NYC by year’s end, bringing a dose of the brand’s signature serenity to the concrete jungle. Located inside the Crown Building on Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, Aman’s first urban Residences “invite guests to experience the Aman way of life, in harmony with the heartbeat of the city.” Aman New York will house a three-story spa, subterranean jazz bar, wraparound Garden Terrace overlooking Central Park, two restaurants and a wine library.
The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood
Opening Summer 2020
Chicago hotel brand The Godfrey will open its first West Coast property this summer. The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood takes a cue from its surroundings, with a curated art program and immersive interior design. In addition to 220 guestrooms, the property comprises four bars, various indoor-outdoor event spaces and restaurant About Last Knife, described as “an energetic, chef-driven gastropub-meets-steakhouse.” The Rooftop Pool & Bar is one of the largest in LA, offering both indoor and outdoor space. Take note, as it will be available for private events.
Thompson Hollywood
Opening 2020
Angelenos can look forward to another brand debut with luxury boutique hotel Thompson Hollywood. The first California property for Thompson Hotels, the design-forward space will house elegant amenities including a restaurant, pool deck, rooftop bar and penthouse lounge.
