Hot Destinations to Visit this Summer

Travel is always a good idea, but summertime getaways just hit a little differently. Whether for a domestic adventure or an international holiday, it seems like everyone is hitting the road (or the skies) right now. Should you be in search of an easy last minute jaunt or ready to book a big trip, we asked some of the top travel PR authorities about the trends they’re picking up. Here are the hot destinations you can expect to see on your social feed this summer.

Santa Fe, NM

Immerse yourself in nature and culture in New Mexico’s capital, and enjoy easy access to all that Santa Fe has to offer at Bishop’s Lodge, Auberge Resorts Collection. Situated right at the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, there’s no shortage of views here. Activities abound, too: embark on hiking trails, paddleboarding down the Rio Grande, fly fishing, horseback riding and more. Plus, the nearby Canyon Road is home to hundreds of art galleries surrounded by adobe architecture.

Alaska

If you’re in need of an elevated spa day with opportunity for adventure, head to the brand new spa at Alaska’s Girdwood’s Alyeska Resort. About 40 miles from Anchorage, the state’s first-ever Nordic Spa doesn’t disappoint, with amenities including 50,000 sq. ft series of outdoor hot and warm Hydrotherapy pools, cold water plunges, waterfalls and more. Once you’re recharged, check out the Eagle’s Nest Lodge, which is nestled between five Alaskan mountain ranges including Denali, Alyeska and Tordrillo. Summer adventures await.

Amagansett, NY

NYC area locals will find a quick trip to Amagansett to be the perfect getaway. Explore the latest the town has to offer starting with The Roundtree, a Small Luxury Hotel, an equally stylish and laidback home base. The unique accommodations range from five private cottages to a century-old former barn and a full beach house formerly owned by playwright Neil Simon. Start the day with yoga, spend a few hours at the beach and unwind at night with a bonfire and clambake.

Nashville, TN

Known for its incredible music scene, Nashville has even more to offer visitors of late. Think: a slew of new museums like the National Museum of African American Music, music venues, raved-about restaurants and the city’s own Major League Soccer team. If you don’t want to miss a beat, stay at the Thompson Nashville in the trendy Gulch neighborhood. You’ll be right in the heart of the city, between downtown and Music Row, with luxe accommodations to recharge during downtime. Explore the record library, enjoy cocktails on the rooftop

Portillo, Chile

Not ready for ski season to end? Cool down by heading south to Portillo, Chile. A ski-in-summer destination for ski and snowboard lovers, the premiere Ski Portillo resort was recently blessed with three feet of fresh snow. Just two hours from Santiago (another traveler favorite this summer), get in some runs on these world-class slopes with the Chilean Andes as your backdrop. Keep an eye out for their annual events too, from Wine Week to Friends Week.

Santorini, Greece

A chic summer favorite, Santorini checks all the boxes from next-level food and sunsets to beautiful architecture, stylish hotels and beyond. Emma Hartland-Mahon, J/PR’s managing director & UK founder, gave us her ultimate guide to Santorini: “For foodies the annual Andronis Gastronomy Festival is not to be missed; ten Michelin star chefs descend from all over the world in a culinary extravaganza. For wellness seekers there are two fabulous spas to seek refuge in at Andronis Concept and Andronis Arcadia, the latter debuting the island's biggest infinity pool which is new this summer. I also love Santorini in the off season — many of the island’s hotels stay open until November giving an entirely different less touristy experience for those after a more serene version of the island.”

Madrid, Spain

Europe is always a hot destination during the summer, and Madrid is a perfect example of that. Immerse yourself in the beauty of its lush green parks, art galleries, pastry shops and lively nightlife. With so many locals away during the summer, visitors have easier access to those favorite museums, restaurants and the like known for long lines. Plus, In August, visitors can join the Madrileños on the streets to celebrate the city’s traditional "verbenas" and open-air festivities, taking place in different neighboring districts. As far as accommodations, don’t miss The Principal Madrid: a five-star hotel situated at the city's most famous landmark—The Gran Vía.

Jetsetter Consensus

We asked the team at Curacity, the platform that enables creators’ work with luxury hotels, for their insights on influencer travels of late. “We are seeing many of our creators book hotels in Hawaii, San Diego, Northern CA and Nashville. Beach destinations and tertiary markets are in high demand, as is New York City! In the summer months, creators are looking to make longer distance trips and stay for durations,” says Mike Keriakos, co-founder and CEO of Curacity.

He continues, “We're seeing bookings made fairly close to the stay date (around a week). As travel continues to rebound, there is a growing trend of people booking last minute getaways –  and we're watching this happen in real time with our creators. They're taking advantage of ‘get up and go’ travel opportunities, which have become more flexible with work-from-home lifestyles. Work and play have fused.”
