Design Happenings This Fall

This fall's design calendar is as full as it is inspired, with something for every corner of the industry. The season brings intimate cocktail evenings, immersive installations and conversations with some of the industry's most compelling voices, along with a fresh crop of collections and spaces to discover. Here are the events, launches and openings worth knowing about this fall.

STILL/not still at IDS

Events 

Interior Design Show Vancouver | September 24–27
IDS returns to the Vancouver Convention Centre, bringing together 25,000 professionals and design enthusiasts for the West Coast's must-attend design event. Highlights include a live taping of The Craft podcast with Falken Reynolds and May Globus, a passive house design session from Studio Balcaen Kwan, and STILL/not still, an immersive forest installation of overlapping BC wood archways by Synthesis Design that doubles as the show's central bar.

Nickey Kehoe x Beata Heuman Cocktail Event | September 24
Nickey Kehoe toasts its new partnership with Beata Heuman, becoming the London designer's first-ever U.S. retailer, with cocktails at its New York showroom.

Design West Hollywood | September 29–October 1
The second edition of Design West Hollywood takes over the district's showrooms for three days of panels, book previews and parties under the theme "Magical Thinking." Highlights include Breakfast in Bed with designer Adam Hunter at Custom Comfort, a Redefining Luxury panel at Natasha Baradaran, and book conversations with Jeff Andrews, Amy Meier and James Magni.

Saatva Palo Alto Grand Opening | September 29
Saatva celebrates its new 4,383-square-foot Palo Alto Viewing Room with Modern Luxury and an evening of golf. Guests can try The Bay Golf Club's mobile simulator, enjoy wellness activations and take home gifts, with a chance to win signed Wyndham Clark merchandise.

"Interactive Design: A Conversation about Verner Panton" at MoMA Design Store | September 29
To celebrate the launch of Panton Cubes, MoMA Design Store's Soho location hosts a talk on Verner Panton's work with MoMA curator Tanja Hwang and design journalist and critic Diana Budds, followed by a hands-on Panton Cube building experience.

Serenbe Designer Showhouse | October 1–25
Serenbe and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles present the 13th Serenbe Designer Showhouse in the community's Overlook hamlet, designed by Serenbe Planning & Design and built by Phillip Clark Custom Homes. Proceeds benefit the Decorative Arts Fellowship, awarded through the Art Farm's Creative Residency Program to an early- or mid-career artist making objects for interiors.

Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse | October 1–November 1
The biennial Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse returns to One Monroe Place, a landmarked 1852 corner mansion, with a roster of top designers each reimagining a room. Look for rugs from sponsor Momeni, a third-generation rug and carpet company, in spaces by Isy's Interiors, Studio Olivine, SRF Interiors, Hallie Goodman, Llewellyn Chupin and Stollar Fearins Welch.

ONCE REMOVED: It Means: God Is Great | October 1
Actualize AiR's fall curatorial residency with ONCE REMOVED, the creative partnership of Zoë Hensley and Sammy Skidmore, kicks off at Seattle's Yesler Gallery with textile works by Seattle-based artist Gizelle Hadeed exploring her experience as a Middle Eastern diaspora kid growing up in the 2000s. The opening reception coincides with the Pioneer Square Art Walk, and the show is on view through October 25, with more exhibitions to follow through December 21.

Saatva Walnut Creek Grand Opening | October 1
Saatva marks the opening of its sixth California Viewing Room with another evening of golf with Modern Luxury. Guests can step into The Bay Golf Club's simulator bay, explore the luxury sleep collection and take home gifts.

Heirlome x Arielle Ratner Trunk Show | October 5
Heirlome and Arielle Ratner present their latest collections at a trunk show at K'ab Juun gallery.

Less Than Half Matrons Mixer | October 8
Hall W. Rockefeller's membership organization for women collectors hosts its next Matrons Mixer at Anat Ebgi in Tribeca. Guests can take in Soumya Netrabile's Field Conditions and Alannah Farrell's Solastalgia, two exhibitions that explore how artists relate to their environments and communities.

Fernando Mastrangelo, Territories Opening | October 8
Fernando Mastrangelo unveils Territories, his first major solo exhibition in nearly a decade, at Cristina Grajales Gallery in Tribeca, with an opening cocktail.

Humbert & Poyet, Grand Interiors Launch | October 13
Humbert & Poyet celebrate their debut monograph with author Gay Gassman at Rizzoli Bookstore, with a champagne reception and brief remarks.

High Point Market | October 17–21
The world's largest home furnishings trade show returns to North Carolina with a wave of launches previewing 2027's trends, including four new lighting families from Champalimaud Design with Visual Comfort, BlueStar's new Burgundy finish at the NKBA's Broad Hall showcase, and Sunbrella's Velvet Allure, its first interiors-exclusive fabric, at the CR Laine x Sunbrella Interiors Lounge (October 16–19). On October 18, the Antique & Design Center hosts "Beyond the Portfolio," moderated by Dilara Tuncer, on how designers use antiques and collectibles to sharpen their point of view, and that evening Materio brings its Honest Hour series to the Odette Collective showroom for a candid talk on balancing business ownership and parenthood.

Sixpenny's Daydream at Elizabeth Street Garden | October 17
Sixpenny offers a first look at its new Autumn collection with Daydream, an immersive exhibition inside Nolita's beloved Elizabeth Street Garden.

Brownstone Boys Studio Sessions | October 24
The Brownstone Boys open their Brooklyn HQ for their first-ever Studio Sessions, fielding questions on renovating and restoring.

East Fork Georgetown Opening | November 12
Asheville-based pottery and homewares brand East Fork celebrates its new Georgetown store, the B Corp's third storefront, its first permanent location in the D.C. area, and its largest retail space to date.

Technogym Reform & Sand Stone Collection

Ernesta Chicago & Santa Monica Showrooms
Ernesta has opened its first Midwest and West Coast showrooms in Chicago and Santa Monica. Both offer expanded customization, from stair runners to fireplace cutouts, plus white-glove delivery and installation, with more locations coming in the months ahead.

Studio K Fall Openings | Starting September 26
Studio K's packed fall slate kicks off in Chicago with Black Briar on September 26. Ebbitt House follows in Reston, Virginia, from the team behind Old Ebbitt Grill, and a luxury residential clubhouse opens at Deer Mountain Village in late October.

Ernesta Modern Geometry & Earth Tones Expansion | September 29
Custom rug brand Ernesta introduces nine new styles, led by its Modern Geometry collection, where distinctive weaves and textures create pattern without added color. The launch also expands its recently introduced Earth Tones collection.

Richard Beard, Time & Place | September 30
Richard Beard's first monograph, published by Monacelli, explores eleven residences through movement, light and material, tracing the conversation between each interior and its landscape.

Blueprint Lighting Collaboration | October
Blueprint Lighting unveils a new design collaboration in October, ahead of a new showroom opening at 200 Lex later this year.

Savoir Los Angeles Showroom | Date TBD
British heritage bedmaker Savoir, whose story began at London's Savoy Hotel in 1905, opens its third U.S. showroom on Melrose Avenue in the West Hollywood Design District. Designed with Carter Owers Studio around California's indoor-outdoor living, the space will debut a new bed aptly named The Melrose.
