For better or worse, Miami Art Week has grown to be about so much more than well, art. Big brands and luxury houses host hundreds of events peripheral to the main art focus, but if you plan on a little culture with your partying, here's a guide to some of the top fairs at the upcoming 2016 Art Week.
Art Basel
Thursday - Sunday, December 1 - 4
269 leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa show significant works from the masters of Modern and contemporary art, as well the new generation of emerging stars. Paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, films, and editioned works of the highest quality are on display in the main exhibition hall. Ambitious large‐scale artworks, films and performances become part of the city's outdoor landscape at nearby Collins Park and SoundScape Park.
Private View: Wednesday from 4 pm to 8 pm by invitation only
Vernissage: Thursday from 11 am to 3 pm by invitation only

Pulse Contemporary Art Fair

Founded in 2005, PULSE Contemporary Art Fair is an established part of the annual art calendar with editions in New York and Miami Beach. The fair is recognized for providing its international community of emerging and established galleries with a dynamic platform for connecting with a global audience. PULSE Miami Beach welcomes galleries from three continents, with over 85% presenting three artists or fewer. Over a quarter of the fair is comprised of first-time exhibitors and nearly half participated in last year’s Miami edition.

UNTITLED

UNTITLED is an international curated art fair that focuses on curatorial balance and integrity across all disciplines of contemporary art. Founded in 2012, Untitled selects a curatorial team to identify and curate a selection of galleries, artist-run exhibition spaces and non-profit institutions and organizations, in discussion with an architecturally designed venue. The dialogue developed between the curators and architects, and the collaboration with galleries and their artists, creates a diverse range of programming – performances, discussions, events - and special artist projects that furthers Untitled's innovative approach to the standard fair model.
