Russell Murphy
Director of Global Communications
Lime
Russell Murphy serves as the Director of Global Communications at Lime, ascending within the Lime organization from managing the Eastern US region to leading its global communications. He has played a key role managing communications campaigns to win competitive permits in some of Lime’s top global markets, including New York City, London and Chicago. Russell's early experience in New York City government and politics has shaped his career, emphasizing a commitment to creating positive change for people and fostering a sustainable future, particularly in urban environments. This commitment is reflected in Lime's global marketing campaigns, such as the 2022 Break Up With Cars and 2023 Make a Clean Break initiatives, encouraging riders to reduce their reliance on cars. Russell oversaw communications around Lime’s recovery from the depths of COVID in 2020 to become the industry leader with record ridership and revenue in 2023. This year, in the face of backlash against brands promoting Pride month and LGBTQIA+ inclusion, Russell’s team supported Lime’s most prominent Pride campaign to date. Prior to joining Lime, Russell worked with Risa Heller at her New York City office, on the real estate and land use team, and before that he worked in local government in New York City, as well as on numerous winning political campaigns.
