Minh-Huyen Nguyen is currently Director of Communications at Wailea Beach Resort - Marriott, Maui, tasked with elevating the property’s luxury positioning, diversity and inclusion efforts and sustainability initiatives. Minh-Huyen conceptualized the resort’s successful “Awaken in Wailea” private experience, proving the demand for high-end private wellness experience add-ons. Under her leadership, Wailea Beach Resort also debuted Olakino, Maui’s first-ever adults-only private wellness pool experience, in early 2023. Minh-Huyen was also instrumental in building out the resort’s Sundeck Suites Collection, working on a strategy to build new audiences for the rooms and generate ancillary revenue streams from this luxury offering. Under her leadership, the Wailea Beach Resort team brought social media management in-house. Following the West Maui fires, the resort’s social content has promoted local Maui businesses and nonprofits. To further support the island during this time, she helped curate Wailea Beach Resort’s reopening package, creating a travel offer in which $100 is donated to the Maui Strong Fund upon each booking. On the DEI front, Minh-Huyen helped boost awareness of accessibility at Wailea Beach Resort, getting the property listed with the Wheel the World organization. Her team also created new property maps featuring accessible routes on a first-of-its-kind app that any hotel guest can download. As a part of her role in Marriott Hawaii’s Next Generation Business Counsel, Minh-Huyen was a leader in rolling out Marriott Hawaii’s Project Reef partnership to provide complimentary reef-safe sunscreen to guests. Prior to joining Wailea Beach Resort, Minh-Huyen led marcomms for Highgate Hawaii, served as Director, Global Communications & Public Affairs at The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., and held posts at Canadian company Cotton Candy Inc., Context Group, Scholastic and more.
