Venue Profile: Ian Schrager's PUBLIC Hotel

Has the reign of the velvet rope come to an end? New Yorkers may be quick to say no, but if the king of exclusivity thinks otherwise, we’re listening. The city is buzzing with the opening of Ian Schrager’s PUBLIC Hotel, a luxury property that extends an open invitation to all.

“PUBLIC is the people’s hotel, it’s about inclusivity, not exclusivity. And all of the different elements that we are bringing together in one place: great style, great fun, at a great price,” said Schrager. And so it is. Located at 215 Chrystie Street, the refined rooms at PUBLIC start at just $150 a night.

Schrager teamed up with Jean-Georges Vongerichten for the extensive food and beverage program. As such, vegan-friendly PUBLIC Kitchen will top your list of must-try restos. Grab a casual meal at grocer-meets-luncheonette Louis, or a bite at the various bars strewn throughout the space.

Speaking of bars, there’s one for just about every occasion. The Lobby Bar, a Schrager icon, is perfect for working and socializing alike. Just in time (and aptly-named) for rooftop season, The Roof is an indoor/outdoor venue boasting killer 360-degree views of the city. Stylish, sophisticated, sexy Diego is an intimate bar described as akin to a gentleman’s club in London, so there's that.

PUBLIC wouldn't be complete without a nod to Schrager’s Studio 54 days. Artists, musicians and beyond will take the stage at PUBLIC Arts, an avant-garde multimedia performance space.

The LES property provides the perfect combination of opulence and downtown grit, and has already proven to be a hit among the most discerning NYC partygoers.
