Reports to: Senior Vice President, Clinique Global Communications
Job function: This position is a right hand to the SVP and is responsible for all communications programs and publicity for North America.
Leads: Team of 3 in NY – Two Managers and an Associate Manager. Directs PR head in Canada.
Direct Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with SVP, develop strategies for global communications programs and initiatives to support Clinique’s overall strategies, image/brand equity goals and product launches with an eye for North America centricity.
- Set the vision and inspiration for North America to create a highly-committed, strongly performing work team by being decisive, using good judgment, positive communication and taking initiative.
- Promote and develop creative and strategic plans that include unique ideas/programs that are in-line with brand business strategy, objectives, and desired results.
- Take a vested interest in each employee's career progression and skills development by guiding career paths and ensuring development that contributes to professional growth.
- Provide effective and clear direction, supervision, oversight, support and quality control for team, media and account management activities.
- Work closely with and gain alignment from relevant brand departments, including Marketing, Physician Services, Education, Product Development, R&D Legal and Creative, on key PR strategies that affect their disciplines
- Work in tandem and cohesively with International PR team on brainstorming and strategizing new launches plans.
- Direct and liaise team on the PR strategies for skincare, makeup, fragrance and brand equity/image campaigns.
- Work with them to identify PR opportunities beyond launches and campaigns.
- Direct the production and approvals of press releases, videos, photography, press kits, and other creative PR tools necessary to communicate image, product and spokespeople messages to media.
- Identify the specific PR needs of the North American team and understand the marketplace at all times.
- Identify regional areas that may need a targeted PR campaign.
- Assist SVP in managing internal and external spokespeople as well as lead media training efforts.
- Provide stewardship & effective management of North America PR monies & budgets with an eye for profitability and ensure team follows appropriate financial policies and practices and compliance with (and develop when necessary) financial processes and controls.
- Oversee all billing and financial activities and alert SVP on any variances and potential budget challenges with recommended solutions.
- Have a fundamental understanding of print, online, social and broadcast media and stay abreast of news trends and analyze its effects on business.
- Possess great knowledge and a strongly developed understanding of beauty, business & competitors, vertical industry, media landscape and emerging trends in consumer behavior and marketplace trends.
- At least 10 years public relations/communications experience with specialty in brand-building (in agency or in-house).
- Excellent presentation and communications skills, solid organizational skills, visual skills, ability to prioritize.
