Communications Specialist

The Communications Specialist deeply cares about advancing Hello Human’s brand mission - to help small creative businesses thrive by sharing their unique stories with the communities that care. They prioritize the success of their member portfolio and work tirelessly to provide solid and actionable advice to help them reach their “north star” goals.

The Communications Specialist has a knack for spotting a story, teasing it out and telling it in a way that resonates with the right people (whether that’s to the media or a social media audience). They have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and passion for connecting people with opportunities, which they bring to benefit their members and Hello Human alike. The Communications Specialist works alongside Hello Human’s founder to continue to build the member base in a thoughtful and sustainable way.

Responsibilities

Member Services (70% of time)

• The Communications Specialist manages and continuously adds value to a portfolio of members.
• Onboards new members successfully ensuring members use the Communications Specialist’s services on a regular basis.
• Develops engagement statements and scopes of work to ensure alignment and guidance towards a long term “north star” goal.
• Supports Founder in annual member strategy sessions, identifying key PR moments and planning outreach in collaboration with each member
• The Communications Specialist makes themselves available on-demand (within 48 hours) to provide members with thoughtful and strategic advice on phone calls.
• Responds thoughtfully, thoroughly and strategically to all email requests from members
• Thoughtfully guides and transitions members to add on services (as needed) to provide more active support beyond the membership
• Continuously brainstorms new ways to provide existing members with more value, and looks for opportunities to launch, communicate and roll out new member benefits.
• Runs monthly member reports and analyzes metrics to improve member retention over time
• The key success metric for the Communications Specialist is measured based on member retention.

Client Services (20% of time)

• The Communications Specialist keeps the quality of work we deliver high, keeps the process streamlined and keeps both the client and the PR Consultant working together well.
• Develop Custom PR Strategies for Hello Human clients
• Execute PR Launch Campaigns and spearhead press outreach to gain quality press outcomes for clients.
• Kick off, manage and oversee the successful delivery of Hello Human PR service packages by external PR Consultants
• Conduct Express 121 Consulting Sessions (discovery calls) with new clients
• Attend design industry events as a representative of Hello Human and our clients
• Maintain strong relationships with media
• Maintain and keep master press list up to date

Brand Marketing (10% of time)

• Develop, plan and execute marketing, event, communications and PR strategies to raise the profile of the Hello Human mission, brand, its products and services and initiatives.

Reporting Structure

The Communications Specialist will report to Hello Human’s founder.

Requirements:

Requirements & Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working in PR, marketing and/or communications, ideally with an agency background
• Strong entrepreneurial spirit that can be applied to the growth of Hello Human and its members/clients.
• Skilled communicator and project manager
• Possess a solid understanding of the design industry and key players
• Possess a solid understanding of effective marketing techniques.
• Good writing and editing skills.
• Must have a good eye for design and passion for creative culture.
• Strong time-management, project management and organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of Google suite of products
• Working knowledge of Notion
• Working knowledge of CMS/CRM tools
• Basic knowledge required to work with Photoshop/Canva
