We are looking for a Senior Digital Marketing and/or Social Media enthusiast with leadership experience and an entrepreneurial desire to help grow and develop our digital team and its suite of services. 

You will help lead our high-performing digital team that works in a variety of sectors to support with strategy writing and oversight on categories such as social media management, influencer marketing, paid tactics, digital marketing verticals and more. Roles and Responsibilities of a Talk Shop Business Director: 

Business Development & Financial Accountability (70%)

Business Development

- Lead business development and sales activities to support direct and contributed revenue goals 

- Develop, execute, and oversee a business strategy that prioritizes growth and positive customer ratings

- Conduct high-level industry research to develop effective sales solutions

- Conduct sales meetings, prepare and present proposals and oversee signing of new accounts

- Work alongside the Business Directors from PR teams to co-sell and consult on integrated service offerings

- Participate in and contribute to regular internal sales meetings – track leads in CRM, look at opportunities to upsell

- Work hand in hand with the Director, Client Services to identify emerging trends and offerings that can be sold into client work

- Responsible for achieving annual revenue target for the digital team

- Actively participate in industry events and opportunities to help generate business opportunities

- Nurture/ cultivate client relationships, prospects, and potential leads 

Financial Accountability

- Oversight of the digital team’s P&L - responsible for maintaining annual gross profit, EBITDA, and staff-cost-ratio targets in conjunction with Director, Client Services for the Digital Team

- Budget Management - Stay on top of group expenses, including bill backs, COGs and other team expenses and costs as it relates to booked and projected revenue - monthly and quarterly

- Monthly and Quarterly KPI reporting

- Report into Managing Partner quarterly on team’s financial performance and prepare and present a go-forward plan

- Make financial decisions to course-correct if targets are not reached

- Lead annual planning alongside Director, Client Services  

Account Management, Strategy & Consultation (20%) 

- Ability to serve as overarching consult on all accounts previously managed or sold in 

- Support onboarding for all clients sold into group

- Provide strategic digital counsel to clients as required

- Ability to interact with and gain the trust of top-tier clients

- Serve as quality control and ensure the highest quality work is delivered to clients

- Work with Directors and Managers to ensure efficiency/profitability of all accounts 

Team Development & Leadership (10%) 

- Provide feedback on team members to the Director, Client Services 

- Regular management and coaching of team members as needed to ensure growth and role satisfaction

- Support Director, Client Services with team resourcing and decision-making around additional needs/changes

- Set example for leadership and culture for team members 

Requirements:

- 7-10 years of social media and/or digital marketing experience, ideally some within an agency/firm setting, or as an independent consultant 

- Proven record of sales growth, ideally from selling and growing business within an agency setting

- Experience in crafting and leading strategies for clients across a variety of sectors including organic and paid tactics

- Confidence in directing your team through positive client communications - you are a clear communicator and enjoy building relationships with others

- Data Driven - you have a keen eye for interpreting data and understanding what levers to pull and where for clients to meet their business goals

- Ability to manage priorities and balance deadline-driven workload with complete accuracy

- Extreme attention to detail – you take pride in the high-quality, client-ready work you produce

- Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to lead and develop a high-performing team

Compensation

Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000, plus company incentive and sales bonuses

Location

Candidates can be based in Vancouver or Toronto. We are currently working remotely and will operate under an optional, hybrid model. As both team and client interactions are important in this role, some in-office presence may be required in the future when appropriate.
