Job Summary Lead the development and execution of property public relations strategies to maximize the impact of the story of the IHG Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in the Americas through print, broadcast, online and other media. Work to develop property-specific trend opportunities and ideate property programming that garners media attention. Ensure that all efforts, plans and processes are integrated with brand campaigns and support the overall Company marketing/PR vision, objectives and goals. Lead and review the work of less experienced staff by providing mentoring, technical guidance and/or training in daily activities.
The salary range this role is 80k to 100k. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. **This job is also eligible for bonus pay. This is a remote based role, prefer candidates in FL, some travel is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, communicate and/or implement public relations strategies, which lays the foundation of assigned initiatives, and which builds into the overall marketing strategy and annual plan of the supported properties. Drive awareness and reputation for the IHG Luxury & Lifestyle Americas portfolio, specifically for tiered services-supported properties. Develop processes and delivery systems for all marketing programs that result in a continuous improvement of actual performance versus strategy. This can include:
- Monitor progress and manage earned media strategy against agreed objectives, including financial, and formally report progress at defined intervals. Monitor and control all budgeted expenditure to constantly achieve enhanced cost effectiveness and product value, and control.
- Conduct monthly budget audits and reconcile budget allocations as well as PR meetings and strategize with 30- 60- 90- day plan.
- Through liaising with stakeholder teams, influence success and implementation of marketing initiatives. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with members of the media, with a key focus on local and regional press, influencers, relevant partnerships and local organizations. Manage internal relationships with RDOs, GMs, DOSMs, chefs, and other senior property leaders across all functions at all levels to ensure maximum benefit from cross-functional synergies.
- Initiate, develop and manage communications efforts, including press release direction and editing, pitch strategies, trend opportunities and media planning calendars. Monitor all relevant competitive activity across all elements of the marketing mix and make appropriate recommendations to management.
- Monitor press clips and media trends. Prepare monthly media coverage and regular analytics reports, as applicable.
- Research, pitch and place favorable stories for properties – including the people, programs, practices and events. Work closely with related disciplines such as marketing and sales to ensure maximum economic impact. Collaborate with IHG’s brand partnerships team to bring select partnerships to life at tiered services-supported properties.
- Manage and mentor junior team members.
Education
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
Experience
8+ years’ in public relations, with ideal focus in hospitality and/or agency experience. Demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines/processes related to the position.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Demonstrated project management experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale marketing projects from conception through implementation and evaluation.
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, for the purpose of providing information to clients, vendors, senior management and staff. Ability to develop and present data-driven recommendations successfully, promoting ideas persuasively, shaping the opinions of clients, media and the like.
- Demonstrated ability to create and execute organizational skills and the ability to prioritize request.
- Demonstrated knowledge of public relations functions and capabilities.
- Demonstrated creative problem solving ability and demonstrated creative thinking skills as evidenced by prior campaigns.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain consistent, high quality customer-focused orientation results, including providing clear, accurate information; explaining procedures or materials or providing supplemental information; anticipating problems or questions.
- Demonstrated appreciation and understanding of consumer and intermediaries and ability to develop consumer understanding based on research and existing trends.
- Demonstrated effective problem solving and analytical skills for the purpose of evaluating marketing data to create earned media strategy, utilizing trends and resolving issues to ideate creative campaigns.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of media landscape, industry trends, and ability to adapt quickly.
Internal Key Relationships
- Wider Luxury & Lifestyle PR and MBSA teams: act as a bridge between properties and wider IHG communications team
- Other Tiered Services teams: coordinate multi-faceted strategies that involve digital marketing, social, sales
- Accounting and Finance Staff: obtain information required to execute ideas and monitor progress
- Legal Department: review contracts with partners to ensure compliance with legal guidelines
- Commercial Leadership: represent wider LLTS team to package results to key stakeholders
- Property Teams: serve as POC for all PR efforts
External Key Relationships
- Media: ideate and execute pitch strategies that appeal to a wide range of national, local and regional publications and influencers
- Partners: work with property team to develop appropriate programming initiatives
- Outside Creative Agencies: discuss potential programs and use their creative expertise as necessary
