JOB SUMMARY 

The Account Manager is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day relationship with clients and for developing and implementing communications strategies and press campaigns. Serving as a primary point of contact for clients and the press, the Account Manager oversees the approval processes on their assigned accounts, drafts written materials, pitches to journalists, manages campaign logistics, and secures press coverage to ensure the successful outcome of their campaigns. To achieve the desired results, the Account Manager will oversee any Account Executive and Account Coordinator on their relevant accounts while also reporting to an Account Director or Director to ensure the campaign strategies and goals are moving forward in a strategic and timely manner.  

JOB OVERVIEW 

Client Campaigns

• Develops and implements communications strategies, working creatively and efficiently to deliver maximum impact and positive messaging for their campaigns

• Manages the progress of active press campaigns, working to secure the highest level of coverage across client accounts and reporting to the client in a productive and timely manner

• Proactively shares regular feedback of any major campaign or client developments with their Director and with the wider team/office as needed in order to facilitate strong results and identify creative alternatives when needed

• Manages team members on assigned accounts, including Account Executives and/or Account Coordinators, ensuring there is always strong inter-team communication, and meets regularly with members of the team to set goals and monitor progress of client campaigns, and that administrative tasks and materials produced are done so at the highest standard

• Actively builds an extensive network of journalists across specialties and regions and regularly meets with key writers and editors to pitch and exchange information and actively keeps up to date with media outlets and industry trends so that all campaigns and pitches are as effective as possible

• Ensures successful cross-company pitches to key target journalists through proper and timely coordination of information across the teams and offices

• Drafts and oversees the issuing of press releases and any written materials for clients, and liaises with them on the approval process

• Coordinates and supervises press meetings and client events, including interviews, photocalls and press previews

• Organizes and successfully leads press trips and events, including drafting guest lists and overseeing any logistics

• Contributes to creative ideas and the implementation of social media campaigns and digital initiatives across their client accounts and on behalf Sutton where appropriate 

Client Management and Reporting

• Acts as the main point of contact for clients and manages the day-to-day client relationship

• Proactively informs clients of any campaign developments in a timely manner

• Ensures press cuttings are issued to clients promptly

• Coordinates media campaigns to keep stakeholders informed and ensures messaging is consistent

• Writes project debrief reports and issues campaign summaries in collaboration with the Director on their account

• Writes AVE reports as required 

Office / Team Responsibilities

• Acts as an ambassador for the Company and a role model for their peers including assisting with the training of their peers and effectively managing Account Executives and Account Coordinators as relevant

• Actively contributes ideas and knowledge-sharing in staff meetings and by email, such as relevant industry intel or coverage, circulating to teams and across the offices as appropriate, and providing updates for the company database

• Attends client and industry events in an official capacity to help build out their networks and develop their knowledge of the sector

• Communicating with other teams/offices to ensure joined-up Company communication

• Assisting with pitches to potential new clients, including supporting on the creation of new business proposals

• Performs any other task as required by Group Chief Executive, Managing Director and/or New York Directors

Requirements:
