The Role
We’re currently looking for a US Marketing & Communications Coordinator to support the larger Marketing department, which is a close-knit, friendly, and supportive, growing international team. The role is reporting directly to the US Marketing Manager and hybrid based in New York City. This is a unique role with a genuine opportunity to make an impact across our omnichannel marketing platforms tailoring a US perspective.
You’ll work with a fast-paced team that is passionate about the work they do and have exposure to many different sides of the business. In addition to supporting new product launches and showroom openings, the role will have the unique opportunity to work with our international partners and collaborators (designers, artists, architects, and interior designers) who are trailblazers in their fields.
Our office and working remotely
US HQ is based out of the New York Design Center showroom at 200 Lexington Ave in Manhattan; offering a hybrid schedule with a 2-3 day in-office option.
Job Description
Your main purpose will be to support the US Marketing, PR, and Communications activities within The Rug Company, helping to increase the profile and reputation of the brand globally, driving footfall into expanding national footprints, and driving traffic online. The role includes various functions such as marketing, public relations, campaign planning, events, digital, social media, print, and offline marketing.
The role is fast-paced and demanding, and involves a high level of administration, requiring excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, communication, enthusiasm, and determination. The ideal candidate will be motivated and able to manage their time effectively, show initiative and the ability to manage projects, and keep track of budgets and deadlines effectively. US travel opportunities to be offered. As the role is a hybrid position, we will need the candidate to be flexible about working remotely and in the office to align with the US Marketing Manager and the rotation schedule of the New York team.
Assist with press inquiries/requests including liaising promptly and accurately with journalists, sending out releases, fulfilling image requests and product loans, formatting press releases in Photoshop, logging requests, scanning, and filing coverage, and researching print and digital media.
Assist with the advertising plans and budgets: coordinating the paid media schedules, making sure artwork is created by the Studio and distributed on time, etc.
Copywriting for press releases, digital soundbites, marketing materials, social media, and newsletters.
Compile and communicate the monthly reports to US sales teams and senior leadership team.
Assist in the national PR and marketing strategy for the brand, ensuring press materials are distributed efficiently to US markets, and partners and supporting regional US activity.
Support with the planning and execution of US-specific campaigns across omnichannel marketing, including preparing and organizing materials for the weekly team meetings.
Support and work hand in hand with the US Marketing Manager on day-to-day activities, and events including virtual and remote, from strategy, and planning to execution.
Assist the larger Marketing team in identifying US influencer and tastemaker partnerships opportunities, help to coordinating US shoots, Q&A and liaising with talent as needed.
Support the US Digital Specialist with affiliates, display advertising, and email campaigns.
Build relationships with collaborating designers, ensuring they are kept up to date with press coverage, reporting, and marketing activity.
Liaise with US partners and third-party marketplaces account reps and marketing team, coordinating cross-promotional assets and loaning designs for photoshoots.
Build relationships with the US sales team(s) and offer support, as well as make sure they’re up to date with campaigns.
Produce campaign documents and event briefs detailing marketing activity, to inform internal and external teams about launch activity and engagement plans for new designs.
Essential Skills
Work experience preferred (part-time or internships) in a similar marketing/PR/communication field preferably within the design/interiors/luxury sector is a bonus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of English literacy, and the ability to spot copy errors.
Quick learner and self-starter with a flexible can-do attitude, with a proven track record of picking up new things fast
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and peers, both internal and external to the company
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment
Strong attention to detail and excellent proof-reading skills
Highly organized and hardworking approach, pro-active and self-starter
Desirable Skills
A passion for interior design and education in the field are a bonus
Enthusiasm and interest in events and coordination surrounding Photoshop and InDesign skills
Willingness to work within an in-person and virtual team
Study in marketing and communications and/or PR firm exposure
Experience working within digital platforms and social media fields
