We tailor every opportunity and every solution to align with overall strategy and deliver maximum exposure and reach.We are looking for an experienced media relations expert (Director level, 7+ years), to join our tight-knit team and provide strategic communications planning and guidance to our diverse roster of clients that range from established brands to innovative start-ups in the fields of entertainment, fashion, beauty and lifestyle.

The ideal candidate would not only have a comprehensive understanding of how media relations works but a strong direction in thought leadership, brand development, creative communication planning and overall marketing strategies.We would expect this individual to have their own relationships and knowledge of how influencer marketing works, how to implement affiliate programs, the best social media practices and more.

Director Responsibilities include:

Oversee the day-to-day activities of agency accounts, including reviewing press materials, pitches and media lists while providing overall strategic input and developing campaign ideas.

Cultivate relationships with members of the media, entertainment industry players, C Suite executives and founders that share agency values.

Attend networking events, seminars and conferences, including out-of-hours, as required to maintain personal professional development and to build networking and new business contacts.

Manage the team to ensure they are proactively pitching and consistently securing media opportunities for clients, driving goal setting and monitoring; pitch as needed.

Review and deliver compelling press strategies to present to clients for larger activations.

Cover media events and attend client meetings.

Support business development through research and outreach to qualified business leads, managing CRM tools such as Salesforce, and facilitating new business calls, follow ups and flow of proposals.

Input contacts into Salesforce and ensure Salesforce is updated prior to weekly calls.

Participate in new business meetings and offer strategic input as well as guidance and suggestions.

Develop and implement an integrated plan for new business outreach (inclusive of goals, target categories, standards), execution of proposals and planning of pitch meetings.

Provide counsel to team members to help them develop professionally, challenging them to think differently and creatively.Manage, mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis.

Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field is required

7+ years of PR or marketing communications experience

Minimum three years experience in a senior management role either in-house or with an agency

Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with top tier reporters and editors, and in successfully positioning subject matter with the media to achieve high-impact placementsExtensive successful writing and editing experience (externally focused) with a variety of print and online communications media

Experience with social media influencer engagement, content campaigns, and media coverage amplification

Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive strategic communications, media relations, and marketing program to advance an organization’s mission and goals

Creative and thoughtful on how new media technologies can be utilizedInnovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output

Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of communications specialistsExcellent judgment and creative problem solving skillsSuperior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers

Self-reliant, resourceful, good problem solver, results orientedAbility to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs
