We’re seeking a rising communicator to join our team as a Junior Publicist - Lifestyle. This position will report directly to the Founder. Applicants must have a minimum of two years post-graduate lifestyle public relations experience, either at an agency or in-house. Ideal candidates will have experience with direct to consumer brands, existing media relationships, and an impressive book of earned print, digital, social, and broadcast press hits.
This is a full time, salaried position that starts at $45K with benefits including: paid time off, performance bonuses, health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), mobile phone stipend, wellness stipend, flexible daily schedules, and Summer Fridays. This is a remote position based in New York City.
Administrative:
- Support team with day-to-day requests
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual individual objectives
- Update and maintain all company lists: media tracking, press coverage, monthly pitches, monthly focuses, pitch angles, PR lists, etc.
- Other writing projects as assigned
- Create monthly status reports and annual recapsIdentify new client leads
- Suggest and participate in activities to grow company exposure
- Work with team to execute add-on programs for clients
Client Relations:
- Develop strong relationships with clients
- Act as point-of-contact for clients
- Assist team in ensuring client satisfaction
- Present press opportunities to clients
- Facilitate phone and email interviews with clients
- Attend in-person or virtual meetings with clients
Media Relations:
- Develop strong relationships with media, including editorial and influencer contacts
- Create story angles for PR Plans Work with team to execute strategy as identified by Founder
- Identify, pitch, and follow up with media Secure press hits: long lead, short lead, broadcast, social, and awardsWrite press materials, including but not limited to pitches, fact sheets, bios, press releases, key messaging, run of shows, and more
- Execute Rapid Response and feature pitching
- Manage award submissions Identify other client exposure opportunities
- Proactively monitor and research news and relevant media coverage on a daily basis and provide insights
- Assist in the planning and execution of live or virtual press visits, desksides, previews, and other events
- Attend in-person or virtual meetings with media
- Execute product mailers
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related area 2+ years of post-graduate lifestyle public relations experience, either in an agency or in-house setting
- Solid media relationships in the national market and e-commerce categoriesImpressive book of earned media placements
- Excellent communicator—verbal, written, and beyond—with a strong understanding of both the AP and creative writing styles
