The Role:

As part of the GM Brand and Digital Communications team, you’ll work collaboratively with colleagues to bring our corporate brand vision to life with storytelling focused on EVs, safety, our path to autonomous driving and GM’s citizenship work as we aspire to be the most inclusive company in the world.Through creative storytelling, identifying societal trends and amplifying product/technology news moments, you’ll work to move the needle on our General Motors reputation through earned, owned, and paid media channels. In this role, you’ll be responsible for working with stakeholders in Public Policy, Investor Relations, Talent Acquisition, and other partners, as well as across Communications, to ensure a focused and cohesive approach to reaching our audiences and achieving business goals.You’ll also lead the external communications strategy for the CMO’s office, earned media extensions of GM brand marketing initiatives, event sponsorships, and the development of a sponsored content strategy, working with collaboratively with marketing and agency partners to identify and execute on paid editorial partnerships that tell our GM brand story in new and compelling ways. Marketing and/or agency management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Lead and inspire collaboration across the external and internal Communications team to ensure our biggest reputational moments and opportunities are developed to their fullest

Lead external strategy for GM’s brand marketing, including speaking engagements and media interviews for GM’s CMO, earned amplification of GM brand moments, and issues management

Lead Comms strategy for sponsored content partnerships and event sponsorships

Work with GM.com and GM social media coordinators on cohesive and innovative digital owned channel strategy, with an emphasis on competitive benchmarking and a desire to try new and creative things

Coordinate with GM Communications editor-in-chief and marketing/communications agencies on creative (photo/video) and editorial workflow across GM media site and other channels to ensure storytelling is focused, efficient and impactful.

Work with leaders to guide a cohesive corporate reputation strategy considering all stakeholders and audiences, using both owned (GM.com, social media) and earned channels, shaping our narrative around key audiences including employees, potential employees, shareholders and policymakers, as well as influential secondary audiences within the general public.

Integrate with Internal Communications and Executive Communications on One Workforce strategies

Additional key internal relationships include GM Communications Research and Analytics, DE&I and Sustainability Communications, Product, Brand and Advanced Technology Communications Community Relations, STEM education, and Corporate Giving

Support major company events and news moments including media announcements, conferences and trade shows.

Maintain and/or grow relationships with key media outlets following our company

Requirements:

Required: BA in communications or related field. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience.
