Job Description

We're looking for a Publicist to join the Rachel Harrison Communications team. We are looking for someone with strong general public relations skills who has current or prior experience in agency public relations. The Publicist will handle account management such as public relations strategy and plans, proactive and reactive media relations; creative writing (press releases, media alerts, content, etc.); building and managing lists of media, bloggers, and influencers; creative brainstorming and new business.

Responsibilities

  • Play a major role in the development of comprehensive public relations strategies and plans.
  • Conduct proactive and reactive media pitching.
  • Successfully pitch stories and meet with media managers to deliver high-quality results.
  • Contribute to creative brainstorming sessions.
  • Seek out creative ideas and opportunities to identify and cultivate story ideas for media pitching.
  • Follow industry and client category trends and regularly share insights, thoughts, and key findings, particularly as it relates to competitors.
  • Create key assets for accounts, including press releases, fact sheets, biographies, messaging, media alerts, agendas, and recaps.
  • Manage multiple clients while hitting tight deadlines.
  • Participate in new business development, including brainstorms, research, audits, surveys, and writing content.

Proactive Team Management

  • Manage quality of work on multiple accounts with professionalism and supportive team leadership.
  • Act as day-to-day client contact with numerous clients.
  • Delegate effectively, setting clear expectations and deadlines, providing needed resources for project completion, and monitoring progress.
  • Oversee junior staff’s work products to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Lead by example; demonstrate a proven strong work ethic.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Should have 3 – 5 years of experience and solid knowledge of the media in the food and beverage industries.
