At Marriott International, all consumer PR activities must be integrated into the continent’s overall plan with a focus on brand communications and the customer loyalty function and must parallel the primary revenue objectives of the hotels/ resorts/ brands and parent company. The consumer public relations’ philosophy and culture must be paramount in all activities and showcase the strength of our brands. Marriott International currently has a portfolio of 30 distinctive hotel brands globally, of which 20+ brands are in Asia Pacific.

In this exciting, fast-paced position, the Manager, Communications, Premium & Select Brands APAC will be supporting the Director, Luxury Brands Communications, APAC in driving communications for consumer brand initiatives across the region. The candidate is a proactive, adaptable and detail-oriented PR professional who possesses a clear understanding of the regional media landscape and contributes to compelling PR storytelling for Marriott International’s distinctive portfolio of brands and company initiatives.  

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES 

• Support all assigned projects and ad-hoc assignments shared by Brand Comms team.

• Work alongside the Brand and Marketing team to develop and execute the PR strategy plan of brand marketing campaigns and initiatives.

• Drives the brand portfolio preference, loyalty program preference, Food and Beverage reputation in the region. Ensures synergies are outlined and identified which complement and support Consumer Operations plans in Asia.

• Supports, coordinates and executes innovative Public Relations and publicity programs that will increase revenue and awareness, creating a positive perception of the brands. Programs should address specific needs as outlined in the marketing plan(s) and capitalize on unexpected opportunities as they arise.

• Works alongside the regional/ field marketing team, as well as customer loyalty team to implement holistic integrated public relations strategy for targeted customers to achieve brand preference.

• Drives awareness and preference on halo hotels and restaurants & bars as identified by Asia Regional team.

• Provides support in strategic planning and integration within region/ hotels to brand standards.

• Coordinates and liaises with consumer PR agencies to leverage the strength of the brands and past successes to produce opportunities for the brands in the region and beyond, as well as contributing to produce brand results in all projects and undertakings.

• Contributes to elevating consumer brands through special events, promotions, partnership, company-wide promotions to strengthen recognition and understanding of properties in marketplace.

• Provides timely and accurate responses when media queried. Stays abreast of news; launches proactive communications plan internally and externally.

• Maintains professional relationships with media, bloggers, influencers and gain cooperation and respect to earn a reputation as a source of reliable, newsworthy information.

Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Formal training in Public Relations, a university degree or equivalent experience in public relations, communications or journalism.

• 4+ years minimum in public relations and communications a must.

• Consumer public relations and/or media experience/ corporate travel/ hospitality industry experience required.

• Experience in public relations agency and journalism background is a plus. 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Travel, hospitality, consumer goods industry or luxury goods background in public relations.

• Strong logistics, projects and events management experience necessary.

• Solid understanding of the print, electronic, broadcast and social arenas.

• Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Word computer programs.

• Extensive knowledge of global and China social media platforms.

• Excellent English and Cantonese writing skills and oral proficiency; Good spoken and written language in Mandarin would be a plus.

• Solid understanding of the hotel business and/or travel industry.
