BerlinRosen is seeking highly motivated individuals who are interested in getting hands-on experience in issue and campaign strategy, communications, and media advocacy.

Interns will learn the basics of high-level communications strategizing and advocacy.Our 2020 Fall Internship Program runs from August 31, 2020 - December, 18, 2020 and is fully remote within the U.S.

Interns will be assigned to work within a division on the National Public Affairs Team (National Issue Advocacy or Labor+), but may collaborate with other divisions and teams as needed. Interns will be asked to focus on a range of projects, including longer-term and day-to-day/immediate tasks assigned by their team.

NATIONAL PUBLIC AFFAIRS

National Public Affairs focuses on national and local issues and campaigns around the country. Interns will have the opportunity to work in media markets from coast to coast and responsibilities will include building press lists, gathering media clips, doing media analysis and research projects, pitch calls to reporters, copy-editing and writing press releases, and social media advocacy work.

National Issue Advocacy: The Issue Advocacy leads media, communications, and digital strategy for numerous groups at the forefront of progressive work around racial justice and civil rights, reproductive justice, political organizing, the environment, affordable housing, human rights, LGBTQ issues, healthcare, education, and criminal justice reform.

Labor+: The Labor+ team works with some of the most important issue campaigns and advocacy groups in the country today. We fight for racial and economic justice, criminal justice reform, financial reform and corporate reform, voting rights, and workers' rights. Our work reaches every corner of the U.S. and beyond, with daily impact in making a more just and equitable world.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

As an intern on our team, you will…

-Learn the basics of high-level communications strategizing and media relations

-Draft daily reports, build press lists, gather media clips, do media analyses and research projects, pitch calls to reporters and copy-edit

-Assist with a variety of communications- and team-related assignments and tasks as necessary

Requirements:

-Self-motivation, good organizational skills, detail-orientation, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

-Strong writing abilities: able to write clear and persuasive copy, quickly

-Ability to work with a team to meet group objectives

-Ability to communicate in a professional manner with the press and community contacts

-Demonstrated interest in news, politics and current events

-Excellent computer skills including Google Suite products, Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Preferred Skills

-Strong social media skills

-Research and database skills are a plus for work on media databases Meltwater or Cision

Additional Details

-40 hours per week: Interns must be able to work 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, on a roughly 9-to-5 Eastern Time schedule. Please do not apply if you cannot meet this requirement.

-Compensation: $15 / hour
