DESCRIPTION:

NB Publicity is a boutique PR and brand strategy agency working with purpose-driven brands across consumer, B2B, hospitality, food + beverage, real estate, and nonprofit.

We are seeking a freelance Account Director to lead strategy and execution across client accounts during our founder’s maternity leave.

Working in close partnership with our Director of Client Services, who oversees client services and operations, you will own strategy, content, PR execution, and strategic guidance.

Overview:

  • Hours: 15-20 hours per week
  • Location: Fully remote (must be based in the United States with the ability to work standard ET business hours)
  • Compensation: Retainer-based (~$50-60/hr based on experience)
  • Duration: 6 months (maternity leave coverage, with opportunity to extend)
  • Start date: Early to mid-February

Responsibilities:
This role serves as the day-to-day strategy and execution lead for assigned client accounts, working in partnership with our Director of Client Services.

You will be responsible for:

  • Setting and evolving account strategy
  • Developing PR plans, story angles, and pitch ideas
  • Creating launch timelines and execution roadmaps
  • Writing, editing, and distributing press materials including media pitches, press releases, bios, bylines/op-eds, speaking submissions, and award entries.
  • Leading media outreach and follow-ups
  • Evaluating and coordinating sponsorships, partnerships, awards, and visibility opportunities
  • Supporting event and media prep strategyReviewing performance and adjusting strategy as needed
  • Providing clear strategic guidance and recommendationsAttend and support weekly client meetings with the Director of Client Services.
  • Managing day-to-day client communication.
  • Provide media training and speaking engagement preparation as needed.
  • Review, edit and finalize monthly content calendars and content in collaboration with our content writer.
  • Prepare and deliver client updates and reports, including:
  • Meeting agendas and recaps
    • Weekly status updates
    • Monthly reports
    • Media mentions and coverage summaries
    • Event recaps
    • Social content performance
  • Lead strategic PR support for events and activations, including publicity plans, media lists, invitations, and run-of-show coordination.
REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years PR or communications experience (agency preferred)
  • Experience working across both consumer and B2B brands
  • Proven experience managing client accounts and leading senior-level client communication, including presenting strategic recommendations and results.
  • Proven experience developing PR strategy and securing media coverage (and can share examples from the past 3–6 months).
  • Excellent writer and editor who can adapt tone and voice across clients and formats (i.e. pitches, press releases, blogs, and thought leadership content)
  • Organized, proactive, and dependable.Self-starter who can quickly absorb context and work independently.Proactive, creative and always thinking two steps ahead.
  • Care just as much about the details as the bigger picture.
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills.
  • Passion for storytelling, trendspotting and bringing fresh ideas to the table.
  • Strong relationships with media and a natural ability to build new ones.
  • Based in the United States with the ability to work standard ET business hours.
  • Experience working with Google Drive, Muck Rack, Asana, and CoverageBook
  • Energized by the idea of helping shape a growing agency
