Opportunity to play an integral role on the media relations team at one of the art world’s most recognized strategic communications and marketing firms
PRIMARY FUNCTION/POSITION SUMMARY:The Senior Account Executive executes and supports media relations campaigns for FITZ & CO’s wide network of international art-world clients. The Senior Account Executive is to implement FITZ & CO’s systems and processes for all aspects of his/her work.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Duties include but are not limited to the following):Lead and execute media relations campaigns for major international art world clientsImplement campaign strategySuccessfully interact with and manage high-profile clients on a daily basis and help to ensure that client expectations are being metPitch features, reviews, and news stories to newspapers, magazines, online media, and broadcast media, in local, national, and international marketsWrite media releases and other media materials, including but not limited to Q&A’s, briefing documents, and fact sheets
Proofread media releases and other PR materials
Organize media events and work onsite at these events
Demonstrate crisis communications experience
Update database and mailing lists of media and art world contacts.
Research new media contacts in order to grow relationships between FITZ & CO and key media
Contribute to the growth and development of FITZ & CO as an agency both through supporting internal systems as well as offering ideas for new business leads and contacts
Assist with administrative tasks, including tracking and reporting media coverage, as needed
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:FITZ & CO’s Media Relations Team as well as the Social Media and Marketing teams
Current clients: reporting, communicating, arranging meetings, and attending client meetings
Media: Editors, critics and writers of major magazines, newspapers, and online media. Producers and hosts of broadcast TV and radio. All media covering arts, culture, fashion, lifestyle, business, finance, and general news.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Trains new members of teamLeads accounts
Supervises interns along with Account Coordinators on staff
WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed primarily in the FITZ & CO New York office, though periodically the position requires domestic and international travel, working across time zones, and on occasion servicing clients’ crisis communications needs outside of regular working hours
College graduate with 5-7 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, and fine arts, at a PR agency
Proven track record of delivering print, broadcast and online media results
Independent self-starter; ambitious hard-worker
In-depth knowledge of and relationships with the media, specifically art-world and cultural media and key writers, editors, and producers
Existing art-world media contacts
Ability to think strategically and be a good problem solver
Leadership skills and experience in managing and mentoring junior staff.
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Excellent organizational skillsMac-savvy
Technical skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Photoshop, Powerpoint, experience with Salesforce and Harvest a plus
Knowledge and interest in social media
