Red Havas, the North American earned-media and buzz agency within French holding company Havas, is seeking to hire a New York City–based Senior Account Executive (SAE). We are looking for a well-rounded, experienced SAE to work across a mixture of corporate and consumer accounts with strong media relations and writing skills.
These accounts include a state and regional economic development, a national fleet industry leader, financial technology company, a new to the U.S TV streaming service, corporate communications and pharmaceutical clients.
A typical day could include everything from live tweeting a press conference to pitching innovation initiatives to national media, writing press release, awards and speaking engagement submissions and more.
The role encompasses all aspects of media management, including pitching news and features, drafting material for and running social media accounts, preparing content for clients and the press and attending and helping to run events. As the role is client facing, it also includes client management, preparing and presenting updates and strategies and taking part in new business activity.
Red Havas works as a close-knit team and Senior Account Executives report up to senior staff while also helping to support and manage other team members.
Ideal candidate will be expected to:
- Spearhead media outreach—from developing pitch angles and identifying targets to securing top-tier national placements and media meetings, as well as local media
- Coordinate and implement events such as media briefings, media tours and third-party advocacy
- Be client-facing and fully understand the clients’ business and communication objectives and be able to manage those expectations with the client and internal team
- Manage junior staff involved on projects
- Work independently and as a key member of the team
- Create a wide range of written materials, such as client memos and press releases
- Three to six (3-6) years of public relations, marketing or journalism experience
- BA/BS degree from top university in liberal arts or business
- Solid examples of media placement and understanding of the media landscape
- Active, creative brainstorming in group and team meetings
- Strong independence, entrepreneurial spirit, passion and intellectual curiosity
- Solid judgment, drive and influence
- Good delegation skills and people management: Mentor staff and provide direction and objectives, performance counseling and skill building
- The ability to manage up and down in the organization
- Strong writing, editing, listening and verbal skills
