DESCRIPTION:

THE POSITION

The Director of Experiences at H&S Communications serves as the agency’s in-house producer and lead project manager for all StudioHS projects, overseeing the conception, planning, and execution of small to mid-size experiences, events, and brand engagements. This individual operates at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and operations, ensuring that every experiential output from H&S reflects the agency’s standard of excellence, cultural fluency, and precision.

Reporting to the Head, StudioHS, this role is responsible for managing budgets, timelines, scopes of work, and cross-functional teams, including freelance “Collectives” who support project delivery. The Director of Experiences collaborates closely with the HS Connect PR team to ideate, develop, and produce brand experiences that amplify client visibility, strengthen community, and bring strategic narratives to life.

This is a full-time, exempt position.

H&S operates as a hybrid, in-office/remote organization. All employees residing in the New York City area must be open and flexible to working from the H&S NYC office a minimum of three (3) days per week.

REQUIREMENTS:

EXPERIENCE & EVENT PRODUCTION

  • Lead the creative and logistical development and execution of all StudioHS experiences, from concept to execution including media and influencer events, brand launches, press previews, intimate dinners, and custom activations.
  • Translate brand strategy and client objectives into innovative, scalable event concepts that drive earned media and social storytelling opportunities.
  • Oversee all aspects of production: venue sourcing, vendor management, creative direction, logistics, technical production, staffing, run of show, and on-site execution.
  • Partner with the HS Connect PR team to ensure event experiences align with broader communications strategies and deliver integrated results.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, and production timelines; ensure projects are delivered on time, on brand, and on budget.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for all StudioHS projects — from ideation through reconciliation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, venues, and partners to ensure quality, reliability, and innovation in all experiential work.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations, capturing learnings, metrics, and best practices for future activations.

COLLECTIVE & TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Oversee and manage Collective (freelance) producers, designers, and event support teams, assigning project roles, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring alignment with agency standards.
  • Identify and cultivate a diverse and skilled Collective network to support evolving client needs.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and accountability to cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and solutions-oriented culture.
  • Partner with agency leadership to evaluate Collective performance and manage contract renewals or extensions as appropriate.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & STRATEGIC SUPPORT

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and account teams on new business efforts, including creative ideation, proposal development, and event concepting for pitches.
  • Participate in brainstorms and strategic planning sessions to generate experiential ideas that enhance client campaigns and integrated programs.
  • Develop visual and written materials for proposals, decks, and presentations that bring experiential concepts to life.
  • Support strategic agency initiatives and internal events that promote culture, community, and growth.

FINANCIAL & PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Lead the creation and management of project budgets, scopes, and staffing plans for all StudioHS initiatives.
  • Oversee financial tracking, reconciliations, and reporting; ensure compliance with agency policies for invoicing and vendor payments.
  • Anticipate resource needs and work proactively with leadership to balance workload, budget efficiency, and delivery excellence.
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of project data, time, and expenses.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in event production, communications, marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in event production, experiential marketing, or integrated communications (agency experience strongly preferred).
  • Proven success producing small to mid-size events (50–500 guests) — from concept through execution — within luxury, lifestyle, fashion, hospitality, or entertainment industries.
  • Demonstrated expertise in creative production, budgeting, vendor management, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and communication skills — both written and verbal.
  • High proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Asana, Smartsheet, Excel, Keynote, Adobe Suite).
  • Deep understanding of cultural, media, and social trends; ability to translate insights into experiential storytelling.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight timelines, while maintaining attention to detail and creative integrity.
