A fast-growing, dynamic New York-based Communications and PR firm seeks a Managing Director of Corporate Communications to lead an Account Team providing communications strategy and media relations to an array of C-suite executives, publicly traded and global companies. The firm specializes in communications strategies across retail, real estate, media, lifestyle, and crisis management.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop relevant communication strategies and integrated platforms to appropriately position a range of corporations and executives in the media
- Secure top-tier media opportunities, including press coverage in national business outlets and speaking engagements
- Serve as the senior client point-of-contactLead and manage full Account Team, overseeing, client management, story angle development, press release writing, and media tracking
- Support new business development through participation in meetings with prospective clients relevant to Account Team’s specialty
- Minimum 7 years media relations experience in an agency setting
- Senior level client management experience essential
- Extensive relationships with print and online media
- Strong ability to manage people at various levels
- Exceptional interpersonal, networking, and verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to lead client meetings a must, including structuring and delivering sophisticated presentations
- Strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- An interest in hard news, corporate affairs, media developments, and world affairs
- The ability to understand and converse in stories reported on the front page of the New York Times and Wall Street Journal
- A mature attitude and the ability to deal with clients experiencing time sensitive and pressured situations
- The ability to help devise media strategies and pitch stories
- Experience in new business development and client acquisition preferred
- Experience in retail, real estate, technology or media are a plus
