DESCRIPTION:

The Director, Premium Brand PR will play a key role in leading and executing the global public relations strategy for Marriott International’s premium portfolio of brands, working in close collaboration with the premium brand, marketing, and PR teams across regions. This role is vital for creating and maintaining an aligned global narrative for Marriott International’s premium brands, embracing and amplifying each brand's unique voice while driving consumer action and brand distinction. The Director will focus on breakthrough PR activations, leveraging media partnerships, and tapping into emerging cultural trends to elevate the premium portfolio. This role emphasizes storytelling around high-profile brand launches, prominent openings, and brand innovations, while amplifying marketing initiatives with strategic PR exposure. The Director will also collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure brand initiatives have strong media traction, both globally and regionally. A key aspect of the role will be nurturing and leveraging media relationships across various sectors, including consumer, lifestyle, wellness, and entertainment media, to ensure that brand stories resonate with diverse audiences.

Core Work Activities:

  • Lead PR for Premium Brands: Oversee PR strategy for Marriott International’s premium brand portfolio, which includes Classic Premium Brands (Marriott, Sheraton, Delta), Distinctive Premium Brands (Le Meridien, Renaissance, Westin), and Collection Brands (Autograph Collection, Tribute Portfolio, MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy). strong strategic mindset, able to think critically and make data-driven decisions to optimize PR efforts across regions. The ability to pivot and respond to challenges with proactive, creative solutions is essential.
  • Creative Media Strategies: Develop and execute innovative PR strategies that capture media attention across a broad spectrum of outlets. From unique partnerships and experiential activations to trend-driven campaigns, the Director will leverage brand stories in a way that is authentic to each individual brand's positioning and aspiration.
  • Leverage Media Relationships: Build, maintain, and leverage deep relationships with top-tier media outlets, including those in the premium lifestyle, wellness, sports, entertainment, fashion and broader consumer sectors. Utilize these connections to secure consistent, high-quality coverage and brand visibility. Work with media across industries, with a focus on driving impactful, culturally relevant PR campaigns that resonate beyond the hospitality sector.
  • Collaborative Campaign Execution: Work hand-in-hand with cross-functional leaders to ensure that all marketing activations are supported by robust, creative PR strategies that maximize brand exposure. Amplify marketing efforts through targeted media outreach and unique PR opportunities. Lead the day-to-day operations, directly executing PR campaigns, pitching media, and driving creative processes.
  • Content Creation & Oversight: Lead the creation and editing of key PR materials, including press releases, media pitches, executive briefs, talking points, and presentations. Ensure that all content aligns with the brands’ voices and messaging while maintaining high editorial standards.
  • Team Leadership & Innovation: Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages creativity, accountability, and innovation. Lead a high-performing Senior PR Manager and manage agency partners to meet business objectives, surpass PR goals, and drive brand performance in the market. Cultivate relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including media, agency partners, and internal teams. Manage cross-functional collaborations, particularly with marketing and global brand teams.
REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.

8+ years of experience in consumer brand public relations, with a proven track record of success in media relations, campaign management, and brand storytelling.

Deep understanding of the public relations landscape, particularly within premium consumer brands and media.Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently, attending brand events and hotel openings.

The position is based at Marriott International’s NYC office and the role requires the ability to work regularly in the office.
