The Position
Foxglove Communications is seeking an earnest and hardworking Account Director to join our team. In this position, you’ll work closely alongside our account teams and as part of our management team in representing a rapidly growing list of acclaimed hospitality clients that span hotels, bars, restaurants and culinary events across the country. This individual must thrive in thoughtful communication in a fast-paced, autonomous environment. Our team is nimble, effective, results-oriented, and versatile–able to work across a broad spectrum of tasks and clients in the hospitality sector. Our celebrated clients are heavily concentrated in New Orleans, Philly, New York, and Texas, with marquee restaurants and bars sprinkled throughout the rest of the country. A sampling of clients includes Birdie's, F1 Arcade, Levain, Southern Smoke, The Tampa EDITION, Wynn Resorts, W Hotel Philadelphia, and more.
Location: We are currently looking for seasoned Account Directors in the following markets: NYC, NJ, Philadelphia, Houston, and/or Austin. Philadelphia is our company's HQ where we have a hybrid (2 day a week in office) schedule. Other locations are primarily work from home as well, with commuting required to in-person client meetings, events, etc. PLEASE only apply if you're based in one of these markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoughtfully manage client business for a robust account roster
- Serve as project manager and/or day-to-day lead on identified accounts under your purview; overseeing strategic planning, executing communications plans, pitching, thoughtful team delegation, and client reporting
- Oversee and support assigned direct reports, including employees at the Senior Account Executive, Account Executive, Account Coordinator, and/or Intern levels
- Actively contribute to Management meetings, developing internal tools and resources, and fostering the company culture
- Cultivate and maintain media relationships, visiting clients and making beneficial new relationships for Foxglove overall; with a strong focus on national media
- Media industry immersion and monitoring of key media outlets; reading and researching local media, relevant lifestyle + food magazines, online outlets and influencers; ensuring media lists are current and effective
- Lead execution of PR initiatives and in-market activations, including deskside appointments, interviews, FAM trips, media events in markets across the U.S.; serving as a senior Foxglove representative in the market and for clients that may not be under your day-to-day client roster
- Manage event organization, overseeing lists, invitations, and run-of-shows for events
- Research, write, edit and distribute press materials; and mentor client teams in doing the same
- Draft and disseminate agendas, press kit materials, client bios, website copy and curated pitches
- Oversee and maintain account reporting and thoughtfully share results
- Develop and maintain client relationships, staying in tune with goals and results against the scope of work
- Provide ideation for campaigns, strategic events, and partnerships
- Recognize and bring client issues to the supervisor’s attention with a proposed solution(s); ability to navigate smaller client issues independently
- Establish trusted partnerships with peers, clients, and media; create channels of communication to keep them informed
- Interview prospective candidates and lead the onboarding process
Requirements:
- 5-7 years PR experience, directly related to the hospitality field, is a must
- Bachelor’s degree
- Passion for hospitality and travel
- Active, demonstrable, and strong media relationships in the hospitality sector
- Effective pitching skills and results garnered from proactive pitching efforts
- Energetic, self-directed, and self-motivated
- Displays a sense of urgency, ownership and drive to get things done
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to connect and work collaboratively with a client team to find creative story angles and target media
- Willingness to visit clients and travel for company obligations and to develop new media relationships
- Experience successfully driving media relations and thought-leadership campaigns
- Strong time management and project management skills
- Team management and team development experience
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Must be able to occasionally work night/weekend hours for client events
- Experience with relevant industry software: Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Slides), MuckRack, Asana, etc.
- Social media literacy (past social experience is a plus)
