Meet sisters Dawn and Samantha Goldworm, co-founders of 12.29. We were excited to hear about the launch of their new company, Scent For Good, and how they have been leaning into creative outlets and extra family time these days. Currently residing in New York and Connecticut, catch the latest from these two and hear more about how they have continued to use their superpowers for good over the past few months.
What’s your usual location, and where are you currently staying?
Dawn: My permanent residence is in Manhattan however I travel two weeks out of every month around the US and Europe. Since March I have been living between Manhattan and my sister’s house in CT.
Samantha: My husband, children and I moved out of Brooklyn in March. We have relocated to Connecticut. Quarantining with two toddlers in a city apartment would have been a tough challenge!
Did you discover any new pastimes or creative outlets during lockdown that you’ll stick with?
Dawn: During lockdown I started to create olfactive paintings…I paint watercolors based on my synesthetic response to odors, mostly of my own creation for clients.
Samantha: Like everyone else, I started baking more. My mom and I love baking challah while my 3 year old loves helping with muffins and cookies.
Do you have any favorite podcasts, books, newsletters, etc.?
Dawn: In lieu of reading more books, listening to podcasts or other leisure activities, Samantha and I decided to create a new company called Scent for Good. In the midst of a global pandemic, we are choosing to use our superpowers for good and serve the underserved in places of care.
Samantha: I’ve become obsessed with my Whoop. Their podcasts and newsletters are really informative and interesting.
What do you miss most from pre-Covid life, and what’s keeping you going right now?
Dawn: I miss the intimacy of friends. My closeness of family is keeping me going.
Samantha: I miss dinners with friends and sending my kids to school and playdates. My new company, Scent for Good, is keeping me motivated. We are very excited to launch our first consumer product next month. It smells amazing! Follow us @scentforgood.
Any fall/holiday plans?
Dawn: Cooking, eating and spending time with the beautiful children in my family.
Samantha: I am planning an intimate birthday party for my 2 year old, Thanksgiving and a family Halloween party. My 3 year old has chosen everyone’s Halloween costumes. I am werewolf and Dawn is a pumpkin! It should be hilarious.
As travel opens up, where will you be vacationing first?
Dawn: Not so much a vacation, however, the first place I will go is to Paris to be in the lab, see my friends and eat real food again.
Samantha: Blackberry Farm!
