The Roxy Hotel hosted its 3rd Annual Surrealist Ball, a modern-day version of Marie-Hélène de Rothschild’s legendary ball in 1972, complete with daring décor, exquisite costumes, premium cocktails and excellent entertainment (including a live performance by David Johansen of New York Dolls). Guests attended with towering headpieces, vibrant colors and props that dazzled as guests danced to a surrealist-inspired playlist by DJ Alix Brown. The night was hosted by the likes of Muffinhead, Suzie Hart, Emperor Vanity Society, Lori Zimmer, Natalie Kates and several other artistic nightlife socialites. Tiers of hors d’oeuvres were the edible centerpieces of the night, including a massive doughnut with coconut cotton candy. As the new year gradually approached, a replica of the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop took place through The Roxy’s 8-story atrium, complete with a confetti shower.
