The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum celebrated the 2017 Guggenheim International Gala with a two-night fete, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Guggenheim Foundation. This year’s gala honored pioneering artists and arts patrons that embody the foundation’s forward-looking spirit: visionary artist Cai Guo-Qiang, former Guggenheim Board of Trustees President Jennifer Blei Stockman, and UBS, in recognition of its collaboration on the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative. On the first night, guests enjoyed a special Pre-Party performance by HAIM and DJ sets by Kindness in the museum’s landmark building. The following night, Daniil Simkin performed an excerpt from Falls the Shadow, his production commissioned for Works & Process at the Guggenheim, featuring costume design by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Artistic Director of Dior. The 2017 Guggenheim International Gala was made possible by Dior.
