In celebration of its new special edition Vintage 2015, Dom Pérignon continued Jean-Michel Basquiat’s legacy at The Brant Foundation in New York’s East Village with an evening of innovative and artistic expression with a vibrant group of artists, creators, and friends and family of the late artist. Dom Pérignon's special edition Vintage 2015 draws inspiration from one of Basquiat’s most profound works, paying homage to an artist whose creativity was rooted in his origins and remains timeless and influential across culture. This unique offering celebrates the fusion of Basquiat's enduring artistic expression with Dom Pérignon's perpetual pursuit of harmony and excellence in craftsmanship.
Guests delved into the experience by first engaging with Basquiat’s In Italian painting (1983), the meaningful and enigmatic work that directly inspired the design of the special-edition bottle. Dom Pérignon invited photographer Maripol to dive into her photographic archives to revisit the vibrant energy of 1980s New York through an immersive installation. A true witness of her time, Maripol captured real-time Polaroids of the evening’s guests, reminding everyone that art, like history, is above all a matter of individuals. From there, guests were welcomed into a New York City club for a jazz performance by Onyx Collective, encapsulating the artistic and musical cultural fusion that inspired Jean-Michel Basquiat, followed by dancing to the beats of DJ Justin Strauss.
Guests included Zoë Kravitz, Natasha Lyonne, Luka Sabbat, Fai Khadra, Kelsey Asbille, Moses Sumney, Hadley Robinson, Hart Denton, Precious Lee, Evan Mock, Aweng Chuol, Raul Lopez, Igee Okafor, Victor Cruz, Georgia Fowler, Elysée Sanvillé, Tina Leung, Ezra J.
