Silvia Tcherassi celebrated the newest addition to the brand’s beloved accessories line: the ‘Sofia Bag,’ named in honor of her daughter, Sofia Espinosa Tcherassi, Director of Ready-to-Wear for the company. To mark the occasion, Sofia hosted an exclusive gathering of women at Coco’s at Colette, a private members club located within the historic General Motors Building, an iconic modernist masterpiece in the heart of Manhattan's skyline.
Highlight attendees included Ivy Getty, Tina Leung, Hilaria Baldwin, Angelica Hicks, AshleyAvignone, Chloe King, Michal Kurtis, Coco Schiffer, and more.
Inspired by an archival design from the early aughts, the ‘Sofia Bag’ combines the elegance of haute couture techniques with modern craftsmanship. The original duchess satin bag which featured a distinctive draped effect and intricate detailing, has now evolved into a knotted hobostyle, available in both mini and maxi sizes. Its defining feature is the architecturally structured gold-plated brass handle, shaped in a unique S-shaped curve, which has become a signature element of the design. The bag is crafted from smooth Italian satin with a protective coating and features a rose gold metal turn-lock closure and a single interior pocket.
"The ‘Sofia Bag’ is a defining moment for our brand,” says Espinosa Tcherassi, who found a prototype of the original design in the Tcherassi archives. “This piece encapsulated the Tcherassiessence, featuring a bold, structured design that speaks to both our past and our future. I’m thrilled to finally share this new chapter of timeless elegance with the women who love our brand.”
The ‘Sofia Bag’ will be produced in limited quantities and will be available exclusively through the brand’s boutiques worldwide. Preorders open on October 15th.
