In celebration of Esse Taco's Brooklyn opening, chef Enrique Olvera and restaurateur Santiago Perez hosted a dynamic party decked out with a preview of the full menu passed throughout the night, flowing margaritas and aguas frescas, DJ tunes, a custom embroidery station and a polaroid photo booth. Attendees included a buzzy mix of influencers, media and tastemakers.
Esse Taco is located in a bright, casual, all-standing space featuring stainless steel barrels for tables, terracotta tiling and a lively open kitchen where fresh masa is nixtamalized and made daily in-house. The menu is focused on simplicity and the best ingredients: classic taco fillings such as ribeye, grilled chicken and al pastor pork are served as a single cut of meat instead of chopped; heirloom corn is used in the tortillas; and Casamata favorites such as the pineapple butter and corn husk meringue (served sundae-style) all make an appearance. All can be paired with a small selection of drinks, including a classic and mezcal margarita and michelada, as well as aguas frescas and sueros.
