Hudson's new carbon-neutral venue, The Caboose, welcomed four of the city's brightest chefs -- Shaina Loew-Banayan of Cafe Mutton, newly minted JBF finalist Nora Allen of Mel The Bakery, Efrén Hernández of Rivertown Lodge and Kitty's Nicole LoBue -- for a multi-course dinner featuring the bounty of Hudson Valley, paired with wine, beer and spirits sourced exclusively from New York State. Proceeds from the evening directly supported the efforts of Partners for Climate Action Hudson Valley (PCA) in their ecological restoration of the region.
Three years in the making, Hudson dining destination Kitty’s has expanded next door with The Caboose, a 6,500-square-foot, 100% carbon-neutral events space housed in a former coal barn built in 1870. Original flooring, beams and rafters have been meticulously restored from the 19th-century structure. Flooded with light, the now fully climatized, solar-powered space can accommodate events for up to 300, with an Eastern wall of sliding glass that opens to a sprawling, tree-filled green space for outdoor gatherings. The building also houses the new location of Kitty's natural wine and spirits shop, Grapefruit Wines (formerly a short walk up on Warren Street), effectively creating a central Kitty's "campus" of food & beverage offerings just steps from the Hudson waterfront.
