Thom Sweeney, a leading British luxury menswear brand with an international reputation and clientele, hosted a cocktail party to celebrate the opening of the brand’s first location in Los Angeles.
Located on the second floor of a corner building off Melrose Place, the new concept space will serve as a gentlemen's club to provide an intimate and personalized experience for the brand’s dapper clientele, combining a retail offering of the latest ready-to-wear collections along with bespoke and made-to-measure services by appointment only, a built-in bar and curated art and furniture by Leclaireur Gallery. Thom Sweeney tapped designer Billy Cotton, a multi-disciplinary American design firm known for its intelligence and unique sensibility, to reimagine the space while staying true to the roots and aesthetics of the brand.
“The collaboration with world-renowned designer Billy Cotton captures an incredible moment for Thom Sweeney. Being a bespoke customer of ours for years, Billy fully grasps our brand’s universe and language” - Luke Sweeney
For the opening evening, guests enjoyed signature cocktails by tequila Tepozan, exquisite tastings of the Macallan sherry oak 18 years old 2023 whisky and Rare 2013 Vintage champagne, while grooving into a vinyl set by Mathieu Schreyer, playing a range of rare soul, disco and funk. Guests in attendance included Alex Sharp, Alison Edmond, Anisa Benitez, Davide Locatelli, John Pearson, Jonathan Keltz, Joshua Colley, Laysla De Oliveira, Luke Bracey, Natalia Bonifacci, Theo Dumont, Tony Revolori, Warren Alfie Baker, amongst others.
Thom Sweeney was founded by Savile Row-trained tailors Thom Whiddett and Luke Sweeney, who joined forces in 2006 to launch their own label. The brand’s first official store opened in 2009 in London’s Mayfair district. Initially offering bespoke and made-to-measure tailoring, Thom Sweeney expanded into ready-to-wear in 2013. With a focus on US expansion, the brand opened their first international flagship store in 2017 in SoHo, New York. Following the successful response to the US market, Thom Sweeney launched digital e-commerce and a revamped shoppable website in 2022. In addition to the opening of the LA location, Thom Sweeney is slated to open in Miami Design District at the end of 2024.
“It has always been our dream to open in Los Angeles. We wanted to create a more private and special retail experience that tells our story and highlights the craft of bespoke tailoring, all while providing an environment for our clientele to feel good” - Thom Whiddett
Furthermore, Thom Sweeney continues to be seen on stylish gentlemen such as Ben Affleck, Ben Harper, Cord Jefferson, Dustin Hoffman, James Marsden, Josh Brolin, Noah Kahan, Patrick Dempsey, Ramy Youssef, Robert Downey Jr, Zac Efron and others.
