Amid Oscar Week, Gagosian celebrated the opening of Made on Market Street, curated by Fred Hoffman with Larry Gagosian, at the Beverly Hills gallery. Made on Market Street is the first-ever exhibition to focus on the work that Jean-Michel Basquiat made during his time in Los Angeles between 1982 and 1984. The show features nearly 30 works, including many that are rarely if ever loaned, and reunites several groups of works that have not been displayed together since they were created. The exhibition is on view through June 1, 2024.
Following the opening, the gallery held a private dinner down the street at Mr. Chow, one of Basquiat's favorite restaurants during his time in the city.
