Cifonelli, the esteemed fashion house boasting a rich 140-year legacy in exceptional tailoring and revolutionary designs, announces the opening of its latest Parisian boutique. Situated in a grand five-story townhouse at 35 Rue François 1er, in the eighth arrondissement of Paris, the boutique stands at the epicentre of sartorial style.
Initially founded in 1880 by great-grandfather Giuseppe Cifonelli in Rome, Italy, the house of Cifonelli has handed down their family traditions and values from generation to generation. Currently, the tailoring house is run by great-grandson Lorenzo and cousin Massimo Cifonelli, who are the fourth generation of the Cifonelli family, and who continue to build upon the family legacy by weaving modern techniques into their tailoring while respecting their family tradition.
This blend of tradition and innovation finds expression in the new flagship store on RueFrançois 1er. In the 1930s, the space was home to Radio 37, a private generalist radio station broadcasting throughout the Paris region, and later hosted three renowned Parisian couture houses, including Guy Laroche.
Inside this expansive space, visitors will discover two of Cifonelli’s three lines: ready-to-wear and made-to-measure, each crafted with the same attention to detail and premium material selection as couture. Amongst the distinctive offerings of Cifonelli’sready-to-wear line are signature pieces like the one-button “Six by one” double-breasted blazer, the three-piece suit featuring a crossed vest, and select jackets directly inspired by couture, including the “Travel Jacket,” “Piemont Jacket,” and “Lorenzo Jacket.”
Lorenzo Cifonelli, Head of the House, expressed, “Since its launch in 2015, we have always ensured that our ready-to-wear-line serves as a gateway into the world of Cifonelli, and embodies a real filiation with the couture spirit of the house. Today, with this new showcase, the House of Cifonelli is expanding its reach even further.”
The ready-to-wear and made-to-measure lines are accompanied by the majestic entrance door of the townhouse (surrounded by a neo-Roman portico), as well as the interior bronze staircase, based on a design by the photographer and interior designer Alberto Pinto(1943-2012), crafted by the Bataillard workshops. Furthermore, the interior arrangement of the boutique was orchestrated by Elliott Barnes, the esteemed French-American interior designer celebrated for his skilful manipulation of light and expertise in working with unconventional and exquisite materials. Barnes mentions that in his role as interior design consultant for Cifonelli, he embraced the concept of "the presence of absence," intending for his design to create a backdrop that accentuates the lines.
Couture, the third line, remains housed within the historic workshops situated at 31 RueMarbeuf, a mere hundred and fifty metres away from 35 Rue François 1er. In being afforded its own dedicated area, clients are granted the opportunity to have all wardrobe essentials- suits, jackets, trousers, shirts, and knitwear - custom-made to their taste and measurements within four to six weeks.
Cifonelli’s grand opening of the new flagship store marks the beginning of their exciting journey into expanding their influence on the global fashion scene, as they eagerly anticipate further developments and plan to make additional announcements soon.
