On March 1st and 2nd, Diane von Furstenberg's International Women's Day event returned to celebrate women InCharge. At DVF's New York Headquarters, this year's edition focused on mentorship and inspiring panel discussions.
Hosted by fashion designer and author Diane von Furstenberg, March 1st’s agenda opened with a morning of "speed mentoring via the 2M Mentors initiative." Hosted by private membership community The WIE Suite founded by Dee Poku, the sessions connected women in leadership with young mentees, for tactical advice on their careers. Mentors include Jessica Lomax, the global head of design at Calvin Klein and Cindi Leive, trailblazing editor and co-founder of The Meteor.
Once doors opened for panel discussions, the event's Emcee, actress, comedian, and singer, Catherine Cohen welcomed attendees and introduced #1 New York Times bestselling author, Gabby Bernstein, who led an opening intention setting, "The Power Within."
The afternoon program kicked off with inspiring conversations, including solo talks, fireside chats, and panel discussions. Multigenerational speakers from various industries and backgrounds covered topics such as health, AI, inclusion, and identity.
Friday afternoon's program concluded with a performance by Sing Harlem.
On the morning of Saturday, March 2nd, celebrations continued with The Vital Voices New York Mentoring Walk on the High Line. During the walk, mentors offered advice to mentees, sharing lessons they’ve learned in leadership. Attendees were then invited back to DVF’s Flagship, where breakfast and panel discussions hosted by Vital Voices, ended the weekend's agenda.
Attendees could also shop to support social-impact brands SEQUENCE, an El Salvador-based brand that trains at-risk youth to handcraft custom products with meaningful messages and Made 51, a global brand created by the UN Refugee Agency, which helps refugees achieve economic independence by making use of their skills, traditions, and heritage. IWD Attendees were also offered 20% off DVF in- store with 10% of sale proceeds donated to Vital Voices. This sale with a cause additionally runs on DVF.com until March 8th.
The DVF design team worked closely with Diane to create two unique ready-to-wear products for IWD, a t-shirt and a hoodie. Inspired by the 50th Anniversary crossword print, the team updated the words to call out the InCharge mantra: Connect, Expand, Inspire, and Advocate. These are available at the DVF flagship Store and dvf.com.
