Storm King Art Center hosted its Annual Gala yesterday evening in The Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center. The Storm King Award marks an annual recognition of meaningful contributions in the fields of visual arts, landscape, and nature conservation. This year’s accolades were presented to Artist Rashid Johnson and The Lipman Family Foundation, both of whom have made great contributions to Storm King Art Center and the larger arts community.
Guests enjoyed cocktails and dinner, and post-dinner drinks as well as heard remarks from Storm King President John Stern, Chief Operating Officer Kellie Honeycutt, and Artistic Director and Chief Curator Nora Lawrence.
The event was attended by 270 Storm King supporters, including artists Diana al-Hadid, Fred Eversley, Chase Hall, Sheree Hovsepian, Bat Ami Rivlin, Arlene Shechet, Alyson Shotz, and Hank Willis Thomas. Trustees in attendance included Roberta Denning, David Diamond, Cathy and Peter Halstead, Miguel and Grace Hennessy, Virginia Overton, Beatrice Stern, Lisa Stern, Hume Steyer, Courtney B. Vance, and Adam D. Weinberg. Additional notable guests included Cecilia Alemani, Ian Alteveer, Naomi Beckwith, Danielle Forest, Kate Fowle, Matilde Guidelli-Guidi, Cynthia Rowley, Samanthe Rubell, Nicholas Weist, and Meredith Westgate, among many others.
