Brunello Cucinelli hosted around 500 of his closest friends to celebrate his 70th birthday in the hamlet of Solomeo, the headquarters of his namesake luxury fashion brand. The evening commenced in the amphitheater with a procession of models dressed in archival and current Brunello Cucinelli looks to celebrate the evolution and achievements of the brand. Mr. Cucinelli was given a standing ovation before making a speech that highlighted his humble upbringings, his continued respect for humanity and creation, and his hopes for the future generations.
During the aperitivo, guests indulged in the spirit of Solomeo with performances of excerpts from Dante’s La Divina Commedia and Il Cantico Dei Cantici recited by Italian actors Claudio Santamaria and Ilaria Genatiempo, respectively. A traditional Umbrian meal paired with Cucinelli’s 2018 Castello di Solomeo wine was enjoyed with live musical accompaniments in Piazza della Pace. The evening concluded with a traditional birthday celebration with millefeuille cake - complete with seventy candles - singing and dancing.
