FARFETCH, the leading global platform for the luxury fashion industry, with iconic rapper Nas and contemporary artist Futura, hosted a dinner to launch FARFETCH BEAT 010 celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop.
For BEAT 010, Nas has curated an exclusive 12on12 vinyl collection featuring the 12 most influential Hip Hop tracks of the past five decades. While Futura, whose influence is interwoven into the fabric of Hip Hop, provides artistic direction and contributes his painting “FUTURE LOOK FOR FLASH” for the cover art, depicting a robotic DJ scratching on turntables.
Guests at the event were welcomed into the garden of Amant, a non-profit arts organization in Brooklyn, New York, with a DJ set by Stretch Armstrong. Cocktails and a three-course dinner menu inspired by Nas’ chosen tracks were curated by Ghetto Gastro, a Bronx-born culinary collective from John Gray, Pierre Serrao and Lester Walker.
Notable guests included Nas, Futura, Timbaland, Jeff Koons, Brian Donnelly (KAWS), Eric Haze, Doug E. Fresh, Vashtie Kola, Tomi Adeyemi, Kimberly Drew, Tschabalala Self, Charlie Ahern, Stretch Armstrong, Danny Báez, Peter Bittenbender, Brandon Blackwood, Emil Boye, Jane Dickson, Ghetto Gastro (Jon Gray, Lester Walker, Pierre Serrao), Carlos Mare, ShiLei McGurr, Tim McGurr, Claudia Moross, Josh Peskowitz, Lee Quiñones, Sindhura Sarikonda, Laura Sartor, Nick Tran, Matt Winton, and more.
