Storm King hosted its Annual Gala—the first on the museum’s grounds in New Windsor, NY. Co-Chairs Courtney B. Vance and Joan S. Davidson welcomed celebrated guests such as Doug Aitken, Chakaia Booker, Alyson Shotz, the Whitney’s Adam Weinberg, and more, to celebrate Martin Puryear and VIA Art Fund, honorees of this year’s Storm King Award—given in recognition of meaningful contributions in the fields of visual arts, landscape, and nature conservation. Puryear was not only celebrated as the night’s honoree, but as the newly commissioned artist for a permanent installation at Storm King slated for completion in 2023. After the difficulties posed by last year’s events, the crisp air of the Hudson Valley and large-scale sculptures in eyeshot at every turn were a reminder of the healing powers of art and nature unique to Storm King.
