Palm Beach’s chicest set made a first foray back into the world for cocktails to toast The Colony Hotel's magical new de Gournay wallpaper. Hosts Grace & Chris Meigher were joined by Mimi McMakin of Kemble Interiors who recently redecorated the pink Palm Beach mainstay, uniting old world Florida charm with modern style—all while keeping things fun. Inspired by the original mid-century mural that adorned The Colony's hotel lobby when it first opened in 1947, the scenic flora and fauna wallpaper features hand-painted characters including flamingos, parrots, alligators, cougars, and The Colony’s own monkey mascot, 'Johnny Brown’—embodying the spirit and humor of the beloved hotel. The scenic came to life in the form of live snakes and parrots visiting from Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, who slithered and squawked enthusiastically among guests as they sipped Whispering Angel rose and nibbled small bites from Swifty’s.
Guests included Mimi McMackin, Colony owners Sarah& Andrew Wetenhall, Christine Speare of de Gournay, plus Wilber & Hillary Geary Ross, George & Lauren Merck, Sharon Bush, Britty & John Damgard, Peter and Mary Dawkins, Ann & Peter Summers, Kristen Schonwald Vila, Danielle Rollins, Ted Cooney, Tiffany Marks, and many more.
